25.01.2022 Buzz Building Bullet - Optimising Your You Tube Videos You Tube seemingly is the place to be!!! In 2005 You Tube was launched and in 2006 Google purchased You Tube for $1.65 billion dollars. It now boasts 2 billion logged in monthly You Tube users world wide and 15 million unique Australian visitors each month. So if your business is not on You Tube you should really be considering it.... Getting the most out of You Tube is more than just uploading video content. You Tube is the second largest search engine so optimising that content for search is vital to the success of your marketing efforts. So lets look at few ways that you can optimise your video content and get the most out of You Tube. 1. Keywords As with any search engine optimisation activity keywords are .. well key. You can use a simple google search, type in a keyword and below the search bar google will include the top commonly searched phrases relating to that keyword. Alternatively you can use tools such as Keyword Planner and Google Trends. (We will go deeper into keyword planning in another post) Once you have your keyword list you can add them to your title, description and tags. 2. Adding Keywords to your tags 10 15 tags per video is ideal. Try adding in long tail keyword phrases first, these are 3-5 word phrases and sentences people may search such as how to set up Poseidon drone, from there reduce to smaller keyword phrases such as Poseidon Drone set up and then finally to your singular keyword Poseidon. This process can be repeated for several singular keywords. Dont forget to tag your brand name. 3. Choose your main focus keyword and include that in both the description and the video title. 4. The first two lines of your video description will be displayed on both Google and YouTube searches. Its good practice to include key words in the first sentence or two. 5. Make sure your video title is also appealing to your audience not just crafted solely for search performance. 6. Dont forget your video thumbnail this is an opportunity to create a visually appealing draw card so ensure you choose a clip that matches your title and will entice your audience to watch. 7. Categories You Tube will allow you to categorise your video. Think carefully about which category to choose and if you are unsure perhaps check out some of your top performing competitors for ideas. Happy You Tubing....

25.01.2022 SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is absolutely a must have but can also be a minefield. There are so many different criteria that contribute to your websites performance. Proper use of header tags is crucial to SEO. Initially H1 header tags were the primary focus for SEO but with the internet overloaded with new sites and content H2-H6 tags have now also become important. Essentially headers are categorised from H1 - H6 in decreasing significance.... The main purpose of header tags is to deliver content in a user friendly and easy to read format and the search engines also index these tags to help them find out what your website is all about. A few quick guidelines; *a H1 tag should only be used once on each web page. *You can use multiple sub-headings on a page H2 - H6 *Focus keywords should be featured in your H1 and H2 tags, secondary keywords can be featured from H3 downwards. I hope this helps shed some light on header tags for you. I'm always happy to help so if you need some assistance with your SEO make sure you hit me up! #buzzbuilderdigital

22.01.2022 Buzz Building Bullet #5 - Instagram Insights In our last Buzz Building Bullet we looked at Facebook Insights because as a small business owner there is literally no time to waste on non-productive activities. Knowing how to measure the success of your labour is vital to the success of any small business. So today we are going to take a look at Instagram insights. What do they mean and how can you use them to change and adapt your strategy.... 1. Impressions The number of times your post has appeared on any user’s screens. This does not represent unique users, it counts appearances. 2. Reach Reach reflects the number of unique users that have seen any of your Instagram posts. 3. Website Clicks Website clicks reflects the number of times any links you've included in your bio have been clicked. 4. Profile Visits The number of times your profile has been viewed not necessarily by unique accounts. 5. Followers How many followers have you gained or lost, as well as interesting statistics and demographics of your followers such as which days and times they are online. As well as Profile insights we also have post insights available; 1. Likes Simply the number of users who liked your post. 2. Comments Again simply the number of comments on your post. 3. Saves The number of unique users or accounts who saved your post, or clicked the bookmark-like icon that appeared below it in their feeds. 4. Actions Indicates the number of actions taken on your profile as a result of seeing your post -- things like visiting your profile, then taking an action like clicking on your website link or following you. 5. Discovery Now this insight is really important as it shows you where your post was seen or discovered including by those accounts who are not actually following you.. (enter the power of the hashtag) In summary; Engagement: This is a super important metric. We want to see people liking and commenting on our posts. When we are not seeing engagement this usually means we need to change our content to be more in line with what our audience is looking for. Following: Is our following growing or are we losing followers? Again this is a reflection usually on our content. Discovery: Include keywords in your content and don’t forget to hashtag. Happy Instagram Insighting! #buzzbuilderdigital #digitalmarketing #smallbusinessmarketing #smallbusiness

20.01.2022 How to build an email marketing database for your business!!! There are many ways with which to turn customers and prospects into subscribers for your newsletters and email marketing campaigns but the most important thing to remember is to gain consent to utilise the subscribers email address for the purpose of marketing communications. 1. The website sign up form You can utilise a pop up opt-in form in a prominent place on your website. Remember to have an opt-in option f...or consent to marketing communications and to keep the fields required to an absolute minimum no one wants to have to give you their life story to sign up. MailChimp and OptinMonster are two great programs for building web sign up forms. In addition, dont forget to catch people on their way out of your website after browsing all of your fab products and services it may be a good time to remind them again to subscribe. 2. Offer email only specials Give your subscribers a value proposition. Why should people subscribe to your emails? To give them access to exclusive discounts and offers only available to subscribers. 3. Create a subscribe form on your Facebook page Mailchimp is one tool that offers a Facebook integration to allow you to create a sign up form for your Facebook page. 4. 18.01.2022 Hashtags So we know they work on Insta.. what about Facebook? If you are on my Insta page you will know that a conversation with my Mother earlier today has sparked this post on Hashtags. Mum queried me as to why young people insist on putting those things all over Instagram! So while it did dawn on me whether or not people really understand the power of the hashtag and that post can be followed on my Instagram @buzzbuilderdigital I also thought are we using hashtags en...ough on Facebook? Hashtags were introduced to Facebook in 2015 but haven’t really seemed to take off as with Twitter and Instagram however that doesn’t mean that utilising hashtags in your Facebook posts isn’t beneficial. The biggest benefit of adding hashtags your Facebook posts is that it makes your post searchable. Facebook handles billions of search queries a day so adding a searchable keyword to your post in the form of a hashtag is only going to assist you in gaining more eyes on your posts. It is recommended to use less hashtags on Facebook studies have shown that posts with 1-2 hashtags receive more interactions than those with 3 5. Happy Hashtagging! #socialmediamarketing #smallbusinessmarketing

18.01.2022 Part 3 of our 2020 business roadmap series and we are onto goal setting. We’ve reviewed our past performance, re-researched our audience, taken a good look at our competitors and conducted a SWOT analysis. Now it’s time to set our marketing goals for 2020. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound. By using SMART goal framework you and your team will know exactly where the goal posts lie and work strategically and cleverly to achieve them.... So what is NOT a smart goal? I want to generate more website visitors or I want to increase sales. These goals are vague are not going to assist you in creating a successful and actionable marketing plan. So what is a SMART goal? I want to increase our current website visits by 20% to equal 10,000 unique visits per month. I want to increase our web conversion rate to 1 in 8 to equal 1,250 web conversions per month by the end of quarter 2. This goal is very specific, measurable by analytics, attainable, relevant and timebound. Quick tip: Setting quarterly benchmarks is a great way to see if you are tracking towards your goals. Be sure to keep in mind any seasonal changes that you have in your market that may affect your leads and/or sales. Quick Tip 2: Don’t forget to keep your marketing budget in mind when setting your goals. Make sure your goals are attainable. If your digital marketing budget is tight is a 20% increase in website visitors realistic? Quick Tip 3: Relevance this one always seems to be a sticky point for people. To me it means is the goal relevant to your overall business goals and your overall plan? If not, then perhaps this particular goal should be re-thought? Quick Tip 4: Use your SWOT analysis as a way to make sure your goal is attainable. What threats stand in your way? Factor these in. Are there weaknesses you will need to improve on in order to achieve your goals. Happy goal setting and good luck!!! #buzzbuilderdigital #smallbusiness #smallbusinessperth #marketingtips #digitalmarketing

18.01.2022 The Difference between Facebook Likes versus Follows! When you look at your Facebook business page under Community you will see a likes count and a followed count. So what is the difference between someone who likes your page and someone who follows your page?... When a Facebook user likes your business page for the first time they are automatically defaulted to follow your page also. When someone follows your page it ultimately means that all of your awesome Facebook content will be seen in the personal Facebook newsfeed. Facebook users have the option to unfollow your business and therefore no longer see your posts in their feed but can still like your business if they choose. This is a very similar set up to your personal Facebook profiles where you can unfollow a personal profile to remove their posts from your feed but still remain friends with them sneaky. What this does mean for businesses though is that you want your following to remain high? If your number of followers is reducing drastically its time to take a look at your content strategy! Are you posting content that is relevant to your audience? Are you posting controversial or offensive materials? It is definitely worth keeping an eye on your likes versus followers as a measurement of your engagement success! Happy Marketing, Buzz Builders! Photo by DESIGNECOLOGIST on Unsplash

In April 2015, Google released a major update to their search algorithm that gave a ranking boost to mobile-friendly websites. In 2018, Google took this one step further and announced that they would be releasing mobile first indexing.... With 52% of global internet traffic coming from a mobile device, being mobile friendly is no longer sufficient, we need to start thinking mobile first! Here are some quick tips on ways you can ensure that your website is mobile first 1. Ensure your website is responsive A responsive website is one that will adjust its design and layout based on the device being used to view it optimising the user experience. 2. Speed It is important to make sure that your website and pages load quickly on mobile devices. You can use Googles free tool Page Speed Insights to see how your website performs. 3. Font Make sure you use a clear font and large enough size that viewing your site on a smaller screen isnt difficult for the user. 4. Buttons As with your font make sure your buttons are easy to read and easy to click. Spacing them well will stop users accidentally clicking on the wrong links. 5. 09.01.2022 IGTV versus Instagram Live Today we are going to take a look at the difference between the Instagram Live feature and IGTV and which would work best in various circumstances for your business. Insta live is a feature that allows you to stream video in real time to engage your followers. Followers will receive an alert when a broadcast goes live and this video can be saved to your Instagram stories for 24 hours.... Insta live also allows you to interact with your followers in real time. You can read their comments and emojis as they join the broadcast and respond accordingly. IGTV is Instagrams answer to You Tube. The app (which also has its own stand alone app) is designed for sharing and viewing videos. Videos are pre-recorded and can be up to 10 minutes in length (or 60 minutes for verified accounts). Unlike Insta Live videos the videos will remain on your channel similar to You Tube and will not be deleted after 24 hours. Insta Live is great for creating a sense of urgency amongst followers you can utilise countdown posts prior to going to a live broadcast and then take advantage of Insta Lives notification service. Insta live works well for; 1. Giveaway and contest draws (builds excitement and urgency) 2. Interviews with special guests 3. Sneak preview videos of new product launches 4. Flash sale advertising IGTV is perfect for videos that you want to remain on your channel and to be viewed again and again; Create a regular show on IGTV Create a vlog Create mini-tutorials for your products and services Repost and reutilise your Facebook and youtube videos Interviews In future posts come to we will take a look at how to utilise each of these Instagram tools. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This is a brainstorming exercise thats usually best done as a team with your executive or management staff. Your SWOT points are put into a basic quadrant which allows you an easy visual of areas for improvement and opportunity. So what are your the strengths Strengths are considered an internal factor. These can be statistical reported through analytics, sales results or customer feedback and reviews. Strengths can include people, tools and unique differentiators. Weaknesses are also an internal factor and measurable using the same metrics and methods as your strengths. Its important to be brutally honest when identifying your weaknesses as these can later be converted to strengths. Weaknesses can also include staff shortages, tech restrictions and other restricting resource factors. Opportunities are generally external, such as new market opportunities, trends you can capitalise on, new product opportunities and collaborations. 06.01.2022 Today we are talking back links and why they are so important for SEO? So what is a back link? A back link, otherwise known as an inbound link or incoming link is when one website links to another. Back links essentially act as a Vote of Confidence from one website to another, when other websites link to your website the search engines begin to view your website as an authority on your topic. It is however important to have quality back links. Back links from sites that a...re completely irrelevant to your product, service or topic will not assist your SEO ranking at all. Moz have an amazing free tool called Link Explorer that lets you check the back links to any domain name, this is a brilliant way to analyse where your competitors are getting their back links from. Do you have content that would be relevant to a blog on your product and service? Are the sites that provide reviews on the products and services you offer that you could reach out to? Whilst obtaining back links can be time consuming for SEO purposes the rewards can be ranking gold. Happy Monday Marketing Buzz Builders! #buzzbuilderdigital

Ads Manager is there for a reason, so what is the difference between boosting a post and setting up a paid ad through Ads Manager? Boosting a post is still definitely considered a facebook ad and is DEFINITELY the quickest and easiest way to do so however, it isn’t the most effective. Ads Manager offers you so many ways to customise your ads to reach your ...business goals. While boosted posts do allow you to optimise the ad for likes, comments shares and awareness and target an audience, Ads Manager takes this customisation to an entirely new level. Get creative: When you create an Ad via Ads Manager, you have the freedom to design an ad to achieve your goals. Create carousel ads, add specific descriptions and add a call-to-action button that'll drive your audience to take the actions that match your goals. 04.01.2022 Check out Mark Zuckerberg discussing the new FB approach to censorship! I personally think loosening the censorship reigns on FB is going to be really beneficial for a lot of advertisers! For example I have a client in the health industry and there are so many conditions we are penalised for mentioning in paid FB advertising as it is considered to be possibly discriminatory or offensive. Yet the messages we are trying to get out there are very important! I feel that as long ...as children remain protected and terrorism and violence do not receive any publicity then this could be a great direction for FB in 2020! 04.01.2022 How to get the most out of your email marketing? 1. Make sure your emails are mobile friendly? Mobile friendly is no longer an option when it comes to any form of digital marketing, it is a must have. If you dont want your email landing straight in the deleted items folder make sure your content and your email is mobile optimised. 2. [email protected]... Not really enticing or personalised make sure your emails are coming from an actual member of your team that way your subscribers will not only feel more compelled to open the email but will be able to easily respond. 3. The Make it or Break It Subject Line 9 times out of 10 all a recipient will be able to see is the senders address, date and time received and the subject line. This 50 character line can be the difference between your email being opened or sent to the trash bin. Make sure your subject line is compelling and grabs the readers attention immediately. Can you offer an instant benefit to opening the email ie. 50% sale offer, hurry limited time only Dont forget to personalise your subject line use your subscribers first name to grab their attention and make the email feel personally addressed to them. 4. Include clear Call To Actions What action do you want your subscribers to take when they read your email? Do you want them to visit your website? Call your business? Your call to actions should be easy to for the subscriber to identify in just a few seconds, well labelled buttons serve this purpose well. 5. Keep your emails out of the junk mail folder Avoid using all capital letters AND SCREAMING at your subscribers, the same goes for the overuse of exclamation marks. All spam filters are different but there are some basic things you can do such as these to reduce your chances of ending up in the junk mail can. The MOST important item to keep in mind when email marketing is to give value to your subscribers. If your email correspondence offers value, your subscribers will stay engaged. 03.01.2022 Buzz Building Bullets #3 Ideas for marketing your points of difference. So far we have spied on our competition and created a list of points that make us stand out from our competitors! So what do we do with this newly found and inspired list of all things that make us great?? We market, market, market them!!!... Now obviously not all spaces, channels and platforms will allow you to include all of the items on your list particularly if your list is large so I would choose between 1 and 3 points that you feel will be the biggest draw in for your customers that you can focus on featuring in all of your marketing opportunities. Here is our checklist of places where you could and should be telling your customers all about why they should be choosing you 1. Website the beauty of your website is that you can include ALL of our points of difference numerous times throughout your site. Ensure that they draw attention and stand out. 2. Your Google My Business listing you can post regularly on this platform. This is a great place to feature your points of difference or perhaps even post them one at a time with an elaborate explanation under each one. 3. Your Social Media Channels Remembering that the bio or about sections of some of these profiles are quite limited which is where choosing your top 1-3 to feature would be beneficial. You can also take advantage of pinned posts to feature your complete list or utilise the space in cover photos and backgrounds. 4. Google Ads if you are investing in google ad campaigns you can utilise call out extensions to showcase your points of difference. 5. Email signatures whilst you don’t want a big story on the end of each email, you can certainly feature your top 1 3 on your email signature. 6. Meta Titles and Descriptions don’t forget to include any points of difference relevant to your website pages in your meta titles or descriptions which are displayed in google search results. Your website developer should be able to assist you with this. 7. Promotional materials and product packaging again depending on the size of your promotional item you may not be able to fit more than 1 point of difference but it is certainly worth including where you can. Product packaging can be overlooked as a marketing medium but is a great opportunity to advertise. 8. Signage 9. Business cards Happy Marketing! 02.01.2022 Sometimes we get so caught up in all of the BIG marketing ideas that we forget about some of the free marketing tools sitting right under our noses.... such as our email signatures. Stat!!! The average office worker receives 121 emails per day and email is still the top method of communication for business purposes so why wouldn't you capitalise on this FREE marketing medium? Email signatures should include;... *your business logo *your business contact details *hyperlink to your website *your social media handles (with links to follow) *your slogan (if you have one) You can even create regular (weekly or monthly) promotional banners to place on the bottom of every company email signature to advertise any special offers or product launches you may have running at that time! (Canva is an ideal tool to assist you in easily designing these) Marketing doesn't always have to be a costly exercise, especially when our customers are often already corresponding with us. 02.01.2022 Part 3 of our 2020 business roadmap series and we are onto goal setting. Weve reviewed our past performance, re-researched our audience, taken a good look at our competitors and conducted a SWOT analysis. Now its time to set our marketing goals for 2020. Quick Tip 2: Dont forget to keep your marketing budget in mind when setting your goals.

01.01.2022 Growing your social media is a lot like growing a garden! You have to nurture it regularly to see it blossom. There are a few things that you can do to help your social following grow a little quicker; 1. Post quality content Content is key! People like posts and follow pages when they find content that is relevant, interesting and engaging. ... 2. Make sure you post content regularly no one is going to be interested in a page whose last post was from 2013. 3. Hashtags We touched on this in a previous post. Hashtags are social media’s keywords. They make your content discoverable to those who may find it relevant. Don’t forget to use your brand as a hashtag consistently through your content. 4. Paid advertising Social media advertising really is quite cost effective and allows you to target your audience using very specific criteria. Consider investing in paid ads to build your following. 5. Offer giveaways or competitions who doesn’t love a freebie? Giveaways and competitions are a great way to encourage likes, comments and shares. 6. Include your social share buttons on all of your blog posts. 7. Link your social media accounts to your email signatures and website. 8. Every now and again cross promote your social media profiles. 9. Include your social media profile details on your business cards and brochures. Happy Marketing! #smallbusinessmarketing #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing #smallbusinessperth

01.01.2022 Did you know that you should be changing up your Insta Hashtags? According to Hootsuite, Alex Tooby and other industry gurus changing up your Instagram hashtags is definitely a social media marketing best practice. So why?... Firstly, Instagram guidelines clearly state that posting repetitive comments and content is not gonna fly! So copying and pasting the same hashtag list over and over is going to register as spam and its likely that your post reach will be penalised. Secondly, changing up your hashtags will give you the opportunity to work out which hashtags are working for your business and increase your engagement and following by eliminating those that are not working and replacing them with more relevant and efficient hashtags. My suggestion .. set up a few different hashtag files, based on the various content you are posting. If you are using an Instagram business profile then you will be able to utilise insights to measure the success of these hashtags. Change your hashtags 5 to 10 at a time in each category until you are making the top posts in all 30. (Yes, use your 30 hashtags!!! Why not take up all the discovery opportunity that Insta is offering) Happy Hashtagging Buzz Builders!!! #buzzbuilderdigital
