25.01.2022 "Instagram isn’t the problem, it’s just the delivery mechanism" - The ever-wise Jamila Rizvi If social media isn't making you feel good about yourself, there are things you can do to make it better. Unfollowing is ok!

25.01.2022 I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling completely helpless at the current bushfire crisis. I put together this guide to how business' should approach their social media at times like this - when emotions are high and the stakes for life even higher. Hopefully, you'll find it useful x

23.01.2022 For the past few days, I have wrestled with the idea of if, and what, I should post on how to positively contribute to the anti-racism discussion. This has been prompted by: The death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement The recognition of Australia’s own track record of Indigenous deaths in custody...Continue reading

22.01.2022 I fell in love with social media sometime around 2009 when I realised it was the great leveller it brought people together from near and far, gave a voice to those who would otherwise not have had it and made brands more accountable and human. But today I, at times, struggle to accept the industry I have chosen to build my business in. I feel opposed by the conflict I see social media channels facilitate; by the hate they amplify and the fake news that they spread; by the k...eyboard warriors who feel empowered by anonymity to act in a way they never would otherwise. I came across PROJECT ROCKIT recently when I was researching a social enterprise that might address exactly the issues I grapple. And when I found them, I couldn’t believe my luck! Project RockIt is an online learning platform that aims to tackle bullying, cyberbullying while promoting social leadership in Australian secondary school students. And so, in lieu of client gifts this year, BuzzPop Brands has sponsored 25 Year 7 students to participate in an online workshop by PROJECT ROCKIT. While my sponsorship of one class of students is but a blip, PROJECT ROCKIT has the power to impact and change the lives of young Australians and the way they engage online and in-real-life for positive impact in a way that probably never can be measured. I believe we can do all better. We have the power to shape the online space into a more positive place; to lead the way with optimism and be the change we wish to see in the world. #buzzpopforbetter

Absolutely!... This was some of the stuff Cherie Clonan from The Digital Picnic and I spoke about when we were guests on Brand Builders with Trevor Young Recently.

06.01.2022 TikTok - say what? I downloaded this little app about 18 months ago and it sat there in my phone metaphorically collecting dust until about 3 months ago. Now? I've been watching it and watching it closely. As a social media strategist, it's important I stay across the trends, while also being aware of those flash-in-the-pan apps that come and go. ... So is TikTok going away? The answer is no. not anytime soon. I've got a blog post a'brewin to debunk the mysteries of TikTok and to help you decide if your business needs to be on it! Have you got any questions you need answered? Drop them in the comments below and I'll be sure to include them in the post!
