24.01.2022 Has the state of the world made you question and rethink everything? Has the restrictions and heartache of potentially birthing alone forced you to question other birth options? Homebirth is not for everyone, that is true some may think oh that’s a nice idea but I could never do it and then there are those that are close to jumping head on, into a birth outside of the ‘system’, but something may be holding them back... You want the feeling of connection with a known midwife. You want the love and support of whomever you choose in your space. You want to be free to labour and birth on your terms without intervention. You know deep in your soul that birth can be magical, moving, empowering. You’re thinking, what will I do with my kids? will they be there? will they be ok? Will I scar them for life? Here’s the thing though, children are more equipped for birth than we are. They don’t have fear stories yet, they aren’t bound by rules and regulations. They are pure, full of questions and wonder. It’s your job to educate them, if homebirth is something you’re thinking about, have conversations about birth, about blood, placentas, babies coming out of vaginas, the noises that you could make or not make Birth is normal, it’s sacred and such a gift to share with your family. These kids will always know the power and magic of birth. They’re heading into life with a new paradigm, they got to witness a real life miracle Are you wishing for the same for your children? I created the most beautiful educational children’s book about Homebirth, the perfect tool to accompany you on your birthing journey whilst empowering you and your child to experience homebirth free from fear. 13.01.2022 It’s homebirth awareness week, as a mama of 6 & a mama that’s birthed babies in a hospital & at home here’s a few things I’d like you to know. It does not matter where you give birth as long as you are surrounded by your ‘people’ birth can be amazing in the hospital as well as at home. Believing in yourself, your body & your baby is paramount. A woman’s body was made to birth her baby. Trust your intuition, listen to your body’s guidance, not external influences. You kno...w what is best for you. Midwives are the true ‘doctors’ of birth. A midwife is there to watch, to listen, hold the space & help only if it’s needed. When we share our experiences & photos it’s from a place of being so damn proud of what we achieved with our body that we want you to inspire you & know that you are capable of this too. (10LB baby at home, Hell yeah I DID)! Homebirth can be expensive but it is worth every cent. Private midwives are worth their weight in gold & have to jump through so many hoops to be able to provide this much needed service. Trust in birth, trust in yourself & trust in your journey. Tap into your baby’s needs too, it’s their birth too. If something feels not right it probably isn’t. Birth is a journey of growth, of travail, of learning & unlearning. Homebirth taught me to put myself first, to be selfish for my own needs. To trust what was right for me, my baby & my family. Homebirth gave our children the gift of witnessing magic. Of first breath. The oxytocin filled bubble of welcoming their sibling into the world. Homebirth made us happy, whole & complete. Homebirth awareness week is a chance to showcase the variations of birth, of care, of magic. If women don’t know their options, they can’t make informed choices. Homebirth is not for every woman, every family, but for us it was the most beautiful, healing & humbling experience. The continuity of care, being able to share this with our children & imprinting for them for life that birth is beautiful & something that need not be feared EVER! @michellepalasia #homebirth #homebirthaustralia #homebirthmidwife #homebirthawereness #birth
