21.01.2022 Our local Shire, through the Shire Rangers, will soon be monitoring the surrounding streets of the College to ensure that vehicles are not illegally stopping on the road or the side verges. The Shire is confident that the new signage and monitoring of the surrounding streets will stop the obstruction of the roads and the bike lane and assist with traffic flow at busy times. The Ranger Team will attempt to start with an education period prior to considering the issuing of infringements. Please be aware that new signage will be installed along Mead Street and Gordin Way. The stopping of vehicles on the road and verge of the marked locations on Mead Street and Gordin Way will be prohibited once installed. Families can find more detailed information regarding the updated traffic changes and rules on Compass.

15.01.2022 Well done to our Education Support students who recently competed in the ESSN Soccer Carnival. The students had a fantastic day representing the College. Our students showed great teamwork and support for their team, as well as the other school teams who competed at the carnival. 14.01.2022 To further celebrate NAIDOC, students from our Follow the Dream program recently attended West Byford Primary School and assisted with their NAIDOC Celebrations. Our students engaged with the younger generation (PP to Yr. 6), and shared the importance of NAIDOC. Included in this post are some beautiful photos of our College students performing face painting on the younger students whilst celebrating their indigenous culture on the day.
13.01.2022 A key priority at Byford Secondary College is ‘Excellence in Pastoral Care and Wellbeing’. To support the achievement of this goal, our College recently ran the MPower and The Rock and Water programs for our Year 7 students. The MPower Girls program aims to help improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of young people by empowering them with skills such as communication, assertiveness, emotion management, goal setting, problem solving, relationship building, peer sup...port and leadership. The Rock and Water program is an experience that provides young people with a pathway to self-awareness, and increased self-confidence and social functioning. Students participated in a series of exercises and games to develop confidence and self-reflection. This year, we invited Year 10 students to get involved in both programs, as part of a peer mentoring program, where our senior school students support our younger students with their educational journey here at the College. Sahli Jewel, a Year 11 student, was invited to share a song which she wrote about bullying and sung to the crowd giving important messages about the harmful effects that bullying can have.
13.01.2022 Last Friday our College held its very first Colour Run. The event was a huge success with approximately 200 of our Year 7 to 10 students attending. All money raised will be donated to [Youth] Beyond Blue. The students in our Interact Club organised this important College event. The club works together to create projects to engage the school community and make the world a better place. The students identified 'youth mental health' as a target issue for 2020, and planned the Co...lour Run to raise money for this area. The students felt that COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the mental health of youth - both in the College and the wider community. COVID-19 presented challenges in terms of engaging the community in events and providing opportunities for the students to participate in fun events at school. Our students had a great time getting covered in coloured dust for a great cause! A big thank you to all involved. A special shout out to our Interact students for their help in organising the event and the Rotary Club for donating the icy poles for the students to enjoy post-race.
