09.01.2022 Our Year 10 Childcare classes have started our new playgroups. The students have a different theme each week and have worked in small groups to develop decorations, a language activity, an outdoor activity and a craft activity for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Parents have a cuppa while the Year 10 Childcare class looks after their children for an hour each week. One of the themes this week was pirates. The kids had fun on a treasure hunt, making eye masks and dancing to a Captain Feather- Sword song.

06.01.2022 NAIDOC Week Always Was, Always Will Be. Always Was, Always Will Be, recognises that the First Nations people have occupied and carried for this continent for over 65,000 years. ... NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. This week at Lesmurdie Senior High School, we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week with activities in the classroom and at lunchtime.

05.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 7 student Georgia Holt, recently named by the Minister for Environment, the Hon Stephen Dawson as the 2020 Infinity Awards Young Waste Achiever. Her citation for this award reads: Georgia Holt is a driving force in her community for environmental and social causes. Ms Holt advocated to the City of Kalamunda for a recycling and general waste bin to assist her in her regular clean-up days at Woodlupine Brook and was involved in selecting the bin locatio...n. Ms Holt met with 7-Eleven Chairman Michael Smith after identifying and writing to him to explain her environmental concerns that 7-Eleven’s Slurpy and coffee cups were a major litter item in Woodlupine Brook. Together they are now discussing ideas to reduce the environmental impact of disposable items. Georgia's achievement was acknowledged at our recent year assemblies. Well done Georgia.
