24.01.2022 Getting to know Dee. Dee has recently joined our team, she is currently in our Toddler Room, however you may see her in other environments across the centre. Dee has been in the childcare industry for 17 years and we are very lucky to have her join our team. In her short time with us we have enjoyed listening to her interactive mat sessions and watching her get her groove on with the children.... 1) Favourite Colour: Red 2) Favourite Animal: Butterfly 3) Favourite Movie: Back to the Future Trilogy 4) Favourite Cartoon: Paw Patrol 5) Favourite Holiday Destination: Fiji or anywhere in WA 6) Favourite Food: Chocolate 7) Places in the world you would like to visit: Canada, Disneyland in America 8) Why did you choose childcare as a profession: I always felt connected with children and really enjoy their company, they are so honest and refreshing 9) Favourite Childhood Memory: Going away with family on holidays (Busselton, Cervantes etc) 10) What are 5 words that best describe you: Bubbly, positive, determined, loyal and energetic. 11) What do you enjoy most about working with children: That they always make me smile and laugh, no two days are the same. 12) ABOUT ME: I have been married for 6 years, we have 2 children a 5 year old boy and a nearly 2 year old girl. My husband is a FIFO worker and has been for 2 years now. Even though it is really hard, he does it for his family to give us a better life. I have been an educator for 17 years now and love to be apart of making a difference in children's lives.

24.01.2022 The toddler children had so much fun learning about the world around them by exploring their 5 senses, developing fine motor skills, and using their communication skills to problem solve and be creative. Through sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing the children used natural materials such as honkey nuts, lemons, oranges, herbs, variety of brushes and pop sticks. What do you think their responses were to tasting the lemons? ... The children also used their imagination and communication skills by selecting materials to mix up some wonderful creations inside their containers. This was so much fun to watch as the children expressed humour, and built positive relationships. The children also used their fine motor skills by picking up objects using tongs and sharing their achievements with the educators. WOW! What a busy day of fun meaningful learning!

23.01.2022 How quickly things can change in our current world Our centre remains open to all our families who require care due to work commitments, and are unable to work from home or remotely - as stated by Premier Mark McGowan in todays press conference. Families due to attend the centre this week will have recieved an email regarding changes made to ensure that safety of our children, families and educators is a priority.... We thank you for working with us and as more information comes to light we will inform you all. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the centre.

23.01.2022 Last Saturday 13th February at 3:45am we had someone jump the fence at the centre and steal quite a bit of outdoor equipment and toys. As you can imagine we are devastated that someone would steal stuff from the children. We are currently working with the Mundijong Police to get information to them. Below are some photos from our CCTV of the person responsible. I have also posted photos of the SOME of the things stolen.... If you recognise the person or have a lead on where these items might be please forward all information through to CrimeStoppers quoting incident number 160221 1330 62321.

23.01.2022 Today we sadly said good bye to Shardae who has made the really tough decision to leave Byford Child Care. For all of us this was one very hard goodbye to say. Shardae first started at the centre as a child, later coming back as an educator completing her Certificate III. Shardae has been at the centre warming everyone’s hearts for 9 years. She has spent so much of her life at the centre that it became like a second family and home. During this time she also welcomed her two ...beautiful daughters to the world who we are going to miss tremendously. Her contagious laugh and witty sense of humour is what makes her one in a million. Without a doubt she would brighten everyone’s day. The absolute queen of the one liners! Shardae is one of those people who you genuinely love to work with and a friend to all. Shardae also has a crafty flare that was ever so often seen in her work as an educator. That love for creativity has turned into a little business. She has made some beautiful pieces for so many people that has come from her heart. Shardae is going to be missed by so many. We all wish her the very best for whatever the future has planned for you. We can’t wait to see all of these adventures whatever they maybe, and cheer you along as they come to life. Thank you for all the laughs and all the memories you have given every single child you have cared for.

15.01.2022 Yesterday we sadly said goodbye to Mel. Mel has been part of the Byford Childcare family for 7 years. We are going to miss her dancing and singing sessions with the children, and her fun recyclable learning experiences. We will also miss Mel’s positive inspirational quotes and riddles. Mel was always looking for quotes to post on our walls to remind us of the beauty in everything, and to keep our minds active. She would always end her notes with a picture of a smiley face. T...his kind nature was very much reflective in the care she had for the children. She was adored my many of the children, and we know she has created lifelong memories for all of us! Although we are sad to see Mel leave, we are also very happy to see her turn her love of nature and travel into her future endeavors. Mel will be working casually so she can spend more time exploring WA. We look forward to seeing your beautiful pictures and hearing your stories of your adventures.

11.01.2022 This gives a great understand of the diffrence between a tantrum and a sensory meltdown. It can be hard to find the triggers as there may be multiple of them and they are ever changing. It could be a smell of a perfume, a noise in the room, a baby crying or the lights in the shopping centre just to name a few.

11.01.2022 R U Ok? Three small words that can make a world of difference to someone ! 2020 has proved to be a very different year that has caused lots of stress for many people, families and businesses so these words hold even more merit this year!!... Don’t be afraid to ask the question it might just be what that person needs to help them through.

11.01.2022 This Wednesday 2nd September is Early Childhood Educators Day. Early Childhood Educators Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning centres (long day care centre-based), kindergarten or preschool services, family day care, occasional care and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), for their wonderful contribution to the well-being and healthy development of the young children in their care. It's a chance to say thank you to Australia’s early ...childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level. For this we would like to ask if our families could please write notes of thanks either to a specific Educator or the centre and stick these up on cupboard doors in the Toddler Room. There are precut flowers, plus a pen in a bucket near the iPad to write the messages. I have also placed some blu tac in the bucket for you to stick up the flowers on the cupboards doors in the book corner. This will be in the foyer for the next week. We would love it if you could please write up some messages for us :) Further to this if you would like to email your message, or write your message on our reviews section of our Facebook page, would also love to read of these :) Thank you for celebrating this amazing event with us.

04.01.2022 New Series of infographics - Why Do Kids Do That? Young kids are allergic to separation which routinely shows up at bedtime. There are many reasons for this ...which makes it one of the toughest times of the day for a young child (and their parents!). Young kids can cling to us out of protest and alarm, refuse to sleep thus leading to bedtime battles and tears. There is a way through and it starts by making sense of why this time is so hard. From insight we lead into practice, working at the roots of the distress rather than just tackling behaviour at the surface level. There are so many ways we can help them settle into sleep and to hold onto us when apart. For more ways to bridge the nighttime separation see my other infographic - When Saying Goodnight is Hard You can download the new series here - http://macnamara.ca/why-do-kids-do-that/ #restplaygrow #drdeborahmacnamara #whydokidsdothat #neufeldinstitute #drgordonneufeld #whydokidsdothat #preschooler #bedtime #sleepkidssleep
