25.01.2022 I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge on my favourite subject of Colour. Do join me in what is promising to be a mind-blowing, and thoroughly engaging day, at Macarthur Bead Society, on November 17th, 2018

25.01.2022 The theme was Pop Art.... this was my entry into this months Macarthur Bead Society challenge... Id been wanting to create a bangle like this for years.... and when this theme came up.... it just had to be done. Decoupage and 24ct gold leaf, and umpteen layers of lacquer.....It was fun to make :) It will be added to the website soon.

24.01.2022 Our first challenge at Macarthur Bead Society was themed Paris Nights. My interpretation was to be found with the Can Can girls of the Moulin Rouge. This is primarily a brooch, showing the ruffled skirts with long legs in a mid kick mode. I fashioned the legs from polymer clay.... its was so good to sculpt again, albeit a small piece. The brooch can also be worn as a pendant if one chooses to, as a chain can be slipped into the vertical clasp.

22.01.2022 On Wings of Time ... Round 2 photo, BOTB 2018

22.01.2022 The Gryphon is a legendary/mythical creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagles talons as its front feet. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts, and the eagle the king of the birds, by the Middle Ages the Gryphon was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Since classical antiquity, Gryphons were known for guarding treasures and priceless possessions. In hera...ldry, the Gryphons amalgamation of lion and eagle gains in courage and boldness, and it is always drawn to powerful fierce monsters. It is used to denote strength and military courage and leadership. With the rear body of a lion, an eagles head with erect ears, a feathered breast, and the forelegs and claws of an eagle, indicate a combination of intelligence and strength. This piece became my Gryphon. With a fractured hand at the onset of the BOTB, I found myself struggling to bead from the pain and inability to hold the needle. The courage of the lion and determination of the eagle saw this piece come to a very slow fruition, but a fruition none-the-less. Through its evolution, the shape of the piece very much symbolizes the beast, showing the body of the lion, with the feathers, wings and talons of the eagle.

22.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Happy New Year from Nifty Creations

21.01.2022 How very very exciting!..... I cant tell you the amount of respect I have for this very talented and unique glass artist. Maxine, from Glass By Girlfriday, not only has a ridiculous amount of talent, but also her quirky and unique vision for what she creates is outstanding. To have her exhibit at the next Bead and Buy in Sydney, on May 5th & 6th, is wonderful! I cant wait to see all her precious goodies, and no doubt will be stocking up on new favourites, to add to my GBGF collection. If youre not familiar with Maxines work.....follow my link above, but whatever you do, come to the Bead and Buy to check it out for yourself. :) ........ CANT WAIT!

21.01.2022 A select group of beaders were set the challenge to create something using only the beads supplied by Team TOHO Beads. Determined to push my boundaries and create something completely different to my norm, and with a colour palette that is not my preference..... the Sceptre began to evolve. Once I got into the flow of what it was going to be, I became obsessed with the tactile aspect of it. I researched Sceptres throughout history and found that they conformed to specific ...dimensions, depending on which member of the Royal gentry was to own it. So my piece is a scaled version. Thank you Team TOHO Beads for a lovely challenge, and also for using my piece in your banner. I am very well chuffed :) The challenge pieces are on display at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee, and will then go on to be displayed at the Toho Museum for 12 months. How honoured do I feel?

21.01.2022 Denim & Diamonds A necklace incorporating denim and of course diamonds. This can be dressed up or dressed down, either way, it is comfortable to wear.

20.01.2022 Please help me raise money for our native wild life affected by the devastating bush fires that are ravaging our country

19.01.2022 This is so amazing!......

19.01.2022 Left Of The Middle - Inspired by the waters of the Carribean, with its crystal clear hues of aqua, and bleached sands of white. One can be transported to this ideallic setting, to wander on the delicate sands and have the sun glistening on the waters, as the sun spakles on the crystals of the necklace.

19.01.2022 How exciting to have Bead and Buy back in Sydney in 2018...... Ill be there, will you?

18.01.2022 Nice to see elegance returning to the runway.

17.01.2022 ALECTRONA Alectrona (pronounced aalehktrawnaa) also known as Electryone meaning ‘amber, shining, iridescent’ was the Greek goddess of the sun. It is thought that she might have also been the goddess of morning or ‘waking from slumber’. Some believed wholeheartedly that she was the cause of men waking from their sleep every morning. In creating the Alectrona necklace, the use of only 3 colours, black, depicting the darkness of the night and gold and silver, depicting the g...lowing golden colours of the sun in the morning. This piece is created in the style of Art Nouveau, an ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. The distinguishing ornamental characteristic of Art Nouveau is its undulating asymmetrical line, often taking the form of flower stalks and buds, vine tendrils, insect wings, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects; the line may be elegant and graceful or infused with a powerfully rhythmic and whip like force. Jewellery in this period was a reaction to a number of things going on in French society at that time, including women’s fight to secure more rights for themselves outside of the home by bettering themselves through education and employment.

16.01.2022 I have been MIA for some time it seems. Home renovations and health have taken priority. But now Im sort of back, and about to embark on this years BOTB. Stay tuned, when I finally finish it

13.01.2022 The monthly challenge at Macarthur Bead Society, was themed Masquerade.... I have a female masquerade mask I created for a challenge years ago, and it hangs in my studio.... since then I had wanted to create a male mask, and this vision has been brewing in my mind, since then... when this challenge came up, I coud not contain my excitement, and turned my vision into reality.....

12.01.2022 Replica In Chaos was born from the struggle of non-conformism. It is true that every bride wants to be the centre of attention, but that usually means being somewhat uncomfortable for hours in a dress that doesnt truly reflect her true self. Grunge came about in the 80and 90s with the attitude of I couldnt give a toss" and Replica In Chaos shows how you can be truly individualistic and still ooze styel. It is a blend of what was and a glimpse of what could be. Dressed up, or dressed down, it works to reflect your inner self.

12.01.2022 Art Deco and the 1920s is a favourite moment in time and style that has always appealed to my sense of creativity. On wings Of Time was born in the midst of the chaos of our home renovations. Art Deco, also called style moderne, movement in the decorative arts and architecture that originated in the 1920s and developed into a major style. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. Its products included both individually crafted luxury items and mass-produced ...wares, but, in either case, the intention was to create a sleek and anti-traditional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication. The distinguishing features of the style are simple, clean shapes, often with a streamlined look; ornament that is geometric or stylized from representational forms; and unusually varied, often expensive materials. Art Deco objects were rarely mass-produced, the characteristic features of the style reflected relative simplicity, planarity, symmetry, and unvaried repetition of elements.

12.01.2022 As I bow out of this years BOTB, I leave you with what would have been my Round 3 pic. Another epic journey has come to an end, but I have again loved every minute of it. A BIG thank you to Abbey for being a fantabulous model as always...... and a Heres Cheers!" pic to everyone moving on

11.01.2022 A little late to the Beaded Square Project party, as I only found out about this a couple of weeks ago, but I've managed to create something for this wonderful initiative. Named: "Beside Myself - United As One Reflecting on the year that's passed, isolation was not how I looked at it, because there was always lots to do. New creative ventures to be explored. Lots of culinary delights. Daily gardening. Fun meetings via technology. Life is as full as you make it, with what yo...u have at hand. There is always a road forward as is shown from the stripes leading that way. It's going in the post today, so should be there soon More details can be found here: https://www.museumofbeadwork.org/

10.01.2022 Another year over, another Battle finished for the Nifty1, so I shall party on and a raise a glass to everyone left to battle it out. Here is my parting photo. A huge thank you to my model Tabitha.. you did a marvelous job for your first time.

09.01.2022 A couple of months ago, the challenge at Macarthur Bead Society was themed Rock Pool... this was my interpretation. I submerged the rocks on the main piece in water to accentuate the feel of the rocks, and starfish, glistening in the sun. The flat beads forming the chain, represent the rock shelves.

09.01.2022 Nifty Creations' website is in upgrade mode... hopefully not for long. When we come back we will have more pretties to make your own, more tutorials for you to create your own, and lots of other things as well. Stay tuned :)

06.01.2022 Happy New Year to you all. I know Im a bit late with the wishes, but under the circumstances, the bushfires and their knock-on effect have taken precedence. Our country is burning. I am currently crocheting bird nests, for our injured native birds, and will soon commence possum pouches. Stay safe everyone.
