25.01.2022 Solar systems getting smarter and preforming better. How the SolarEdge Technologies Inc. system works.

25.01.2022 Visiting Selectronic and doing a factory tour learning about their off grid battery inverters.

24.01.2022 From Stirling to Carrickalinga. This morning when I left home I didnt realise I would be digging this massive hole in the front yard of a house at Carrickalinga repairing a burnt out consumer main. The customer rang me at 11:30 whilst I was at Stirling. I gathered some supplies and arrived at 1:30 and then finished and SA Power arrived by 5:30 to reconnect it. Happy customers and they can get on with their weekend.

24.01.2022 Something new for me last week. I installed a new adjustable light for the operating table for Dr. Nick West and the team at Familypet Vet - Mclaren Vale. Here they are working out how it works.

23.01.2022 An interesting read for those lucky to live in the CBD http://www.abc.net.au//solar-battery-rebate-adelai/6566724

20.01.2022 After reading the artical it is difficult to prove how much the battery actually saves him as he put the whole system on at once and it appears if he never had solar before. Long term it will be worth it. LG Chem is were Ill be pointing people though.

20.01.2022 Solar Edge is a great product and with the introduction of the TESLA Power Wall next year it makes for a great package to install for storing energy and consuming it at night time.

19.01.2022 Sub-contracting for Sol Energy Pty Ltd today installing a 5kw Solar Edge system on a commercial tilt frame

19.01.2022 Not happy about this.

18.01.2022 The beginning of a beautiful day here on the Coorong starting day 2 of a 60kW solar system using SolarEdge optimised panels and Sunlock mounting system.

17.01.2022 Hope this doesnt happen in Australia. I guess if it does it will drive people to go off grid completely.

17.01.2022 What a busy day today. From Lonsdale picking up stock to diagnosing a problem at Blewitt Springs on an old solar system then off to Ashbourne to check out another issue and organize SAPN to get the problem checked out. Back to Blewitt Springs to repair the problem found earlier in the day after the stock had be delivered. Then headed over to Aldinga to do a bit more first fix in a bathroom. The last job was to look at and quote a job at Pages Flat because someone had done some damage to an underground cable that was not installed correctly in the first place. Its a pity I cant charge per KM as I didnt have many billable hours today.

15.01.2022 Well what a busy couple of days all because of a Standards change with a mix of products and panels. Job 1 was to remove an old solar system to make way for 30 new panels. Some LG 320w panels and some Aleo 255w panels connected to a Schnider XW+ with DC battery charger and Fronius Primo 5kw. Job 2 contracting for a new company and doing an upgrade to a system in Elizabeth South installing a new Enphase Australia & New Zealand micro inverter system with 260w Jinko panels and a SolarEdge Technologies Inc. system on Saturday with Canadian Solar optimised 260w panels. Even had to work today to finish off one of the systems as didnt get it finished during the week.

15.01.2022 Well it has been a long time since my last post but yesterday marks the completion of this job as SA Power Networks came an installed the import/export meter. With 19 290W JA Solar Edge optimised panels and a SE5000 this system is set to perform all year round. With the Solar Edge meter and monitoring platform you can really take control of your usage. SolarEdge Technologies Inc.

14.01.2022 This morning I was called to a job of an inverter not working. On arrival I noticed a circuit breaker similar to the one pictured down. I asked the customer if she had turned it off. She said that when it was up the little window showed green. After turning the circuit breaker on the inverter started working. Im not sure why the colours are opposite to what we think but maybe showing red means danger the power is on.

13.01.2022 This is going to make batteries a whole lot more cost effective

11.01.2022 A big thank you goes out to Jason Rayner of CNW Electrical Lonsdale who opened up after hours on Friday night to allow me to get the parts required to sort out the Old bush inn after they had a devastating power failure right on meal time due to the rain. As soon as SA Power had been and gone I got cracking getting the fault repaired so that SA Power could come back and reconnect the service.

11.01.2022 Hot weather, metal roofs and installing solar dont mix. Nothing like turning up to a job early to install solar only to find that the iron hasnt been fully installed on the roof area that we needed to work on.

10.01.2022 A big day for C & C Electrical Solutions replacing some under ground cables that had been stolen. With a few problems getting the cable back in the ground, SA Power Networks finally got the power reconnected at 11:53pm that night.

10.01.2022 Its nice that they are trialing this but would be nicer if it was available to everyone.

09.01.2022 Just been past one of the sites that I have installed some new LED lighting to. 100w each for 4 lights. 400w where as previously the site had 3 x 500w and 1 x 150w lighting the same area.

05.01.2022 Some installs from 2013-2015

05.01.2022 At C & C Electrical Solutions, we dont just do solar. After 17 years of hitting my head on the "less than desirable" lights at my dads house I have brought him into the 21sy century with some new LED down lights. For the first time ever you can see from one end of the hallway to the other!

05.01.2022 Well its been a long time between posts but I feel its time again to talk about how solar works here is SA. Earlier this evening I was reading a post from a lady, who had asked the question "Had anyone ever had zero production before" I had tried to clarify it but didnt get an answer. So attached is a picture to try and help people understand. This customer in a 24 hour period produced 38.06Kwh of solar for the day indicated in the green and blue. The blue also indicates th...e power that was self consumed during this period. Self consumption is when you use the power directly from the solar system basically not paying for the power. The Red is consumption from the grid. This happens of course at night but also when consumption exceeds the solar production. For example at around 1330 the solar production dipped but the load was high. Half of the energy came from the solar and the other half came from the grid. Now for the maths. With rounded figures. This customer consumed a total of 69.02kWh for the day. 29.61kWh directly from the solar and 39.41kWh directly from the grid. They exported/sold a total of 8.45kWh to the grid. 8.45kWh x 16.5c = $1.39 sold to grid 39.41kWh x 40c = $15.76 purchased from grid 29.61kWh x 40c = $11.84 saved from buying from the grid. $15.76-$11.84-$1.39= -$2.53+ daily charge 90c for a total daily charge of approx. $3.43. If the customer didnt have solar the consumption for the day would have been at a cost of $28.50 Hopefully this is easy to understand with the aid of the picture.

04.01.2022 Todays job involved swapping a range hood for a customer whos old one didnt have enough suction and was to low they kept hitting their heads on the sharp corners. The difficult part about this was it was installed on a full glass splash back. I managed to use the existing holes cut in the glass to mount this new range hood to. The end result a happy customer and a nice slim range hood with plenty of suction.

04.01.2022 Would you believe that 1 of these lights in the photo is a 500w halogen and the other is a 100w LED?

02.01.2022 I am now using MYOB accounting software and now except Visa and MasterCard payments. Currently payments are only online but I will be recieving a credit card reader soon to be able to do Eftpos.

02.01.2022 Today Simon and I installed this 3.83kW system with Fronius Primo 5.0-1, 15 x Trina 255w panels in landscape and Sunlock rail system for Sol Energy Pty Ltd. Now its time to start saving money.

01.01.2022 9.2 kw finished today. This customer will be happy with his bills from now on.
