25.01.2022 Very proud of the hard work and dedication of the RESCCUE C2O marine team in developing these tabu signs. While it took a long time, that was in part due to the positive changes communities made to increase their tabu area size, it was worth it. Thanks team for a great outcome!

21.01.2022 Last week, technical experts from C2O as part of the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership, collaborated with PHAMA Plus to run a series of successful workshops with farmers in Fiji. The workshops attracted 224 farmers from four growing regions and were an opportunity for farmers to share their knowledge and experiences on current climate issues, solutions and hear about the latest NextGen climate change projections for Fiji. Stay tuned for the recommended climate adaptations that will be trialed at demonstration sites and a traditional knowledge video.

21.01.2022 The C2O team would like to thank you for your support during this (tough) year and wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

21.01.2022 Very proud of the hard work and dedication of the RESCCUE C2O marine team in preparing these tabu signs. It seems to have taken much longer than expected, but mainly due to positive reasons, like communities expanding their tabu areas after our awareness sessions. Well worth the wait for such a good outcome.

16.01.2022 On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science we would like to celebrate our female force at C2O Consulting (from top left to right: Britt Basel, Johanna Johnson, Sandra Erdman, Jane Waterhouse, Daniela Ceccarelli and Mari-Carmen Pineda). We are not always under water (unfortunately) but we can assure you we are always working hard to contribute to protect our coasts and oceans and to achieve a better world through applied science. As saltwater women, we have a lot... in common: we have followed our passion, we believe in our skills and we have worked hard to get where we are today. Most importantly, we try to enjoy every step of our journey. We leave you with one of our favorite quotes: ‘The women I admire for their strength and grace didn’t get that way because life worked out. They got that way because things went wrong and they handled it. They handled it in a thousand different ways on a thousand different days, But they handled it.’ See more

15.01.2022 Jane Waterhouse spent the day touring around the Bowen Bogie Broken catchment on the Landholders Driving Change bus tour with fellow scientists, landholders and the incredible team for the program. The progress that has been made since our original design in 2017 is outstanding! Gullies, gullies and more gullies....

15.01.2022 Another article in the Pacific Oceanscapes special issue, this time about the Community Marine Monitoring Toolkit developed in Vanuatu but with utility for resource-dependent communities anywhere. Thanks to Eryn Hooper, David Welch, Jane Waterhouse, Glenn Edney, Brad Moore and the community marine champions for their contributions and support throughout.

13.01.2022 Very proud of the hard work and persistence of everyone involved in preparing and finalising these tabu signs. It may seem like an easy task but took years due to the positive response of communities wanting to increase their tabu area sizes. Well done RESCCUE marine team.

13.01.2022 C2O was very proud to be a part of the the Vanuatu Climate Strike on Friday. What a great turn out, it was so heartening to see so many young people from schools and community groups actively challenging world leaders to take climate action!

13.01.2022 After only 3 weeks working with C2O on the COTS program, Rickard Abom has already gone out in the field to see the great work the control teams are doing.

11.01.2022 New member on board! We are pleased to welcome another new team member to C2O Dr Rickard Abom. Rick has over 15 years’ experience working in tourism and environmental science on the Great Barrier Reef. Originally from Sweden, Rick has worked in many countries around the world, and has extensive experience as both a dive instructor and scientific field leader, as well as dabbling in marine photography. He is looking forward to applying his experience to his new role leading the GBR crown-of-thorns starfish (COTS) control program for our partner, the Reef & Rainforest Research Centre.

10.01.2022 Today is a very special World Wetlands Day, as we celebrate 50 Years of the Ramsar Convention of Wetlands! (https://www.environment.gov.au//celebrating-50-years-ramsa). Remnant wetlands in the GBR catchment maintain high biodiversity and aesthetic and cultural values, while providing important ecosystem services such as water quality improvement and carbon storage. C2O consulting is proud to have contributed to better planning and management of GBR coastal wetland systems throughout the years and we will continue to support this work in the future to protect and conserve these valuable ecosystems. 09.01.2022 The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) just released its ‘Adaptive management of fisheries in response to climate change’ report, in which Johanna and David from C2O have been involved as Editors, authors and workshop facilitators. This report aims to accelerate climate change adaptation implementation in fisheries management throughout the world. Check it out here: http://www.fao.org/documents/card/en/c/cb3095en

08.01.2022 Proud and honoured to have worked with Britt Basel and Gillian Starling on this important project in Solomon Islands, and finally to publish our results. Remote communities throughout the Pacific are already facing climate challenges, and are used to being self-reliant. They are so resilient and with only a little guidance can face this challenge without loosing their food, income or cultural identity.

06.01.2022 Office in the big blue...great day changing over loggers and star pickets at Moore Reef. Thanks Eric and Reef Magic, its nice to connect with the reef every so often!

06.01.2022 New member on board! We are pleased to welcome a new collaborator to C2O Dr Mari-Carmen Pineda. 04.01.2022 Such a positive step seeing the Marine Champions step up and create opportunities in their villages to raise awareness and improve coastal resource management.

03.01.2022 Another amazing field day in paradise!!

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all our friends and family far and wide. May 2021 be the year we can be closer together!

01.01.2022 Last week, C2O Partner and Senior Scientist, Jane Waterhouse was invited by Minister Ley to speak with members of Parliament on water quality issues in the Great Barrier Reef as part of her role in the Reef 2050 Independent Expert Panel. Great recognition of Jane's years of expertise in this field and her ability to clearly articulate the issues.
