15.01.2022 A surprising winter storm brought snow to many parts of Israel. Northern Israel got most of the snowfall, with the Golan Heights reporting 15cm of snow. .... In Jerusalem, heavy rain and sleet came first before some fresh snowfall covered the mountains, trees, and streets. Younger children are especially enjoying their first real snowfall, since the last time it snowed was 6 years ago. Police closed major roads in the area to traffic, and schools shut down for the rest of the week. . Temperatures are expected to drop during the course of the day across the country and flood warnings were issued in coastal and low-lying areas. Once the snow melts, it will help replenish the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret), which is Israel’s main fresh water supply. . We are grateful for the abundant rain! Please pray, however, for safety for all traveling on the roads, as well as protection from flooding. 03.01.2022 This evening was a wonderful time to celebrate Australia and Israel relations at the special Australian Israel parliamentary friendship event, hosted by the cha...irman ; Senator David Fawcett and many special dignitaries and friends from both the political , Jewish and various christian organizations of the 70th anniversary of Australia being the First Nation to Vote in favor for the UN resolution 181 portion plan to create a homeland for the Jewish people Effectively paving the way for Israel’s declaration of statehood the following year in 1948 Foreign Minister Julie Bishop spoke of Australia’s ensuring and unwavering friendship for over 100 years , and our commitment to remain strong allies with Israel in an increasingly hostile neighborhood . Israeli Government representative read a letter of greeting from Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which also affirmed our strong historic political and economic ties over the past 70 years and looked forward with optimistic enthusiasm for the next 70 years. Also we heard from the new incoming Israeli Ambassador to Australia; his excellency Mark Sofer . It was a very special auspicious and historic event which I was honored and very pleased to attend and meet with many wonderful people from the Jewish and Australian communities.
