15.01.2022 Yesterday was definately a great day for bowls. I went to Caba to watch the semis A grade singles and saw two totally different games, John Madden got away quickly , it just was not Koyty’s day. John Madden got home with plenty to spare with a great exhibition of bowls. The other game between Freeman and Hammer was a nail biter with the lead changing several times, Freeman just sneaking home to get a win in the end. Commiserations to Koyty and Hammer but it must be said congratulations on getting to the semi’s. Final next Saturday between Laurie Freeman and John Madden is sure to be a cracker, kicks off at 12.30 after the men’s club AGM . Good luck to both of them and may the best bowler win.

08.01.2022 Thanks to Boyd Kelly for getting this up and running. Greg Goode was contacted by Judith Tuckey of Holding Shot article in the Tweed Valley Weekly newspaper and asked to send her some news from our Club. Here it is ..... " In an attempt to lure more people to our game of bowls, Cabarita has introduced Saturday morning social mixed bowls from 10:30am. Bowlers and social players can participate in mixed pairs and triples which are club selected. Experienced bowlers are moved t...o different positions in teams to enhance their skills development while social distancing and hand sanitising is rigorously enforced. Initially, numbers were steady around 20 to 30. However, last Saturday saw 46 bowlers participate. While the club insists that it must remain social, winning rink prizes are drawn out of a hat and if the margin is also drawn out a team can win $100. Winners have emerged already with Sue Goode and Rhonda Gleeson sharing the prize money. This week the prize was not claimed and will therefore jackpot to next weekend. Greg Goode See more
