15.01.2022 Fantastic Woodford ride today with 8 members and their steeds enjoying the cooler weather and soft trail underfoot, thank you to Keith for leading the ride and Sue for calling out directions

13.01.2022 Club ride 1.11.2020 The ride planned for 25 October postponed due to predicted dodgy weather went ahead on 1st November. Beautiful morning after Saturday's storm. Thanks for guiding and taking pics Pauline

13.01.2022 Ride 25.10.2020 Tomorrow's ride cancelled due to weather but loving this rain!

13.01.2022 Looking for something to do with your horse?

13.01.2022 Benkalda Challenge Course 9.8.2020 And ... we're back! Finally, after covid restrictions, rain and more rain .... gale force winds were not going to stop us visiting the beautiful property at Benkalda Challenge Course, Stoney Creek. Not sure that our trusty steeds would call it 'fun' but being the brave and trusting beings that they are, they gave it their best shot. And so did we in remaining in the saddle without being toppled off by the wind

12.01.2022 Wamuran Ride, Sunday 8.3.2020

12.01.2022 Great 1st ride out at Wamuran on Sunday the 7th Feb. A bit warm but riding mostly in the shade of the trees was wonderful.

10.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all CTHC members and horse lovers. Enjoy the festive season. Be kind, be happy, be safe, and look after those ponies. See you out riding in 2021. Cheers, Ursula,... CTHC President 2020 See more

09.01.2022 Yarraman horse ride coming up - this is not a CTHC ride, please contact Sharyn or Hayley as per flyer details

09.01.2022 Club ride at Wamuran 13.9.2020 The wind kindly died off for Sunday and we had perfect riding weather as we set off on 'Keith's not-too-hilly ride'. Thanks Keith, it was a great ride No we won't mention a couple of cranky horse disagreements ..... and a couple of hillier than expected hills ..... and a broken-down vehicle ....

09.01.2022 Five brave riders and horses for today's members ride. The forestry cut down much of the wind for an enjoyable outing. Well done to our junior member, Mia, on her first trail!

07.01.2022 Notice from HQ Plantations:

07.01.2022 Flies, Flies and more Flies!!! In the eyes!! We know all of our equine clients are struggling to keep the pesky flies at bay. But did you know that these cr...itters are causing more havoc than you may think? The number of eye cases that have come up in the last couple of months is astounding. Corneal ulcers, conjunctivitis and now worm larvae! Habronemiasis was a thing of the past or so we thought. In the 1990s Ivermectin became a popular worming product and so the prevalence of this disease diminished. BUT ITS BACK! WITH A VENGEANCE THIS SUMMER SEASON. . . Summer sores is another name for this type of infection of the eyes and open wounds. Habronemiasis appears as raised granulomatous (yellow/hard/pussy type), ulcerative lesions of the conjunctiva (the pink bit) and the eyelids. But these non-healing lesions can also occur at sites of injury too! . . Adult Habronema organisms live in the equine stomach; larvae are passed in the faeces, are ingested by the fly larvae, become infective in the fly pupae and are deposited near the eye (or mucocutaneous junctions or wounds). . . They usually look ulcerative or nodular and sometimes a yellow type mineral nodule. Hypersensitivity to the organism (especially the dead organism) results in extreme itching, loss of hair around the eye, and secondary ocular disease such a conjunctivitis, corneal ulceration or uveitis. . . So, it is vital to ALWAYS have your vet out for any eye pain, discharge or swelling so we can begin your horse on not only systemic treatment but topical eye treatment as well! . . How can you prevent this? Perform regular Faecal egg counts and if indicated worm with an IVERMECTIN based wormer. If there are worms present you will then need to re-worm as per your vets instructions. Fly spray the body, especially around wounds and around the head. Keep a fly veil on your horse as often as possible to protect their eyes from the flys. #equinevet #equineveterinarian #horsesofinstagram #eyes #horsesofinstagram #worming #reworming #horseflys #flys #summer #summersores #habronemiasis @ Samford, Queensland See more

05.01.2022 Sunday’s ride cancelled due to wet weather

05.01.2022 Hi all CTHC members. How are you all doing out there? Just a note to please check your emails, and respond to the one regarding membership fees, if you haven't already. Cheers, El Presidente....

03.01.2022 Trail Riding Australia have advised that given the current circumstances all club events are to be put on hold, therefore any upcoming planned CTHC rides will not be going ahead. Stay safe everyone, wash your hands and enjoy your horses until we are able to ride again as a club.

03.01.2022 2021 Membership We are now accepting memberships for this year. We are offering a reduced fee in these uncertain, covid times, and will not be holding our usual sign-on/meet-n-greet. Our first ride is planned for 7 February. Memberships will need to be finalised well before then in order to get names on our mailing list for ride details, and to minimise paperwork handling at rides. Please email us for membership forms [email protected] until we can get them loaded ont...o Facebook. Cheers! See more

02.01.2022 Just a reminder ......

01.01.2022 Contact us on Facebook Messenger or [email protected] Caboolture Trail Horse Club was formed in 1980. We are a not-for-profit pleasure riding club for people with their own horses and horse transport. We are not a business and do not provide horses for hire. We offer trail riding, mostly through forestry, but sometimes on the beach or private property, in areas between Narangba and Woodford. Rides are usually 'walk only', for between two to four hours, sometimes including m...orning tea or lunch. We hold a couple of fun days each year and occasionally provide opportunities for camp-outs and training days. Rides and events are held on Sundays once or twice a month. Members receive an annual rides calendar and regular emails and Facebook updates giving details of upcoming rides and events. Included in membership is liability insurance and affiliation with Trail Riding Australia. Trail riding - we love it!
