25.01.2022 President Fay presenting the winner with their trophy for President Pairs
25.01.2022 This day is where our members recognise our management committee for all their hard work though the previous year. We also have the opportunity to invite our friends from various clubs along for a game of bowls. Great company, fun bowls and a lovely meal cooked by our mother clubs function team and served to our ladies in one of the function rooms upstairs.
23.01.2022 As we see restrictions slowly being lifted from Coronia virus there has I'm sure in all our lives been occasions that have sadly missed the human touch, hugs and kisses. In this instance I am referring to the 99th birthday of CVD Women's Bowling Clubs cherished foundation and life member Mrs. Dolly Adam. This birthday on the 19th April has only now came to my attention through the grapevine as owing to lock-down and club closure I have not had access to our clubs records bein...g that they are safely locked away in our bowls office. Anyway upon hearing of Dolly's special birthday I decided to contact her daughter Jean to find out how they proceeded to celebrate with Dolly and with Jean's approval I am going to share just a little of their day with all of you. With great delight Jean told me of her driving to Big W Carnes Hill to purchase balloons and thought a quantity of 60 would be sufficient, having them blown up with helium Jean struggled back to her car only to find that 60 balloons were not going to fit into the boot. After managing to fill the boot and back of her car Jean rallied family members to converge on Carnes Hill car park so the remaining balloons could be safely tucked away in other vehicles. The family then headed off to Dolly's place of residence the nursing home. Only allowed to stand outside the carers brought Dolly to the front door so she could have happy birthday sung to her by Jean, grand daughter and great grand children. Private residents of the nursing home came out onto their balconies after hearing Happy Birthday being sung and also joined in on the singing just so it could seem a little more commemorative. Upon conclusion the 60 balloons were released to soar high above Dolly's home. While this is not how Jean and family had hoped to celebrate Dolly's 99th birthday Jean said it was better than nothing. Jean, Thank you for sharing. I thought I would share a poem from a daughter to her mother on her birthday that is very dear to my heart. "Today, I just want to hug you, kiss you, feel the warmth of your hug and the beat of your heart. For all the time you carried me, I will forever carry you in my heart. Happy birthday!" With great pleasure and better late than never on behalf of President Fay, committee and members of Cabra-Vale Diggers Women's Bowling Club we wish Dolly a very happy belated 99th Birthday.
23.01.2022 As of 12.29 pm March 17th 2020 CVD Women's Bowling club received a circular regarding Corona Virus (COVID-19) which read: Amid growing concerns and uncertainty in relation to the spreading of COVID-19 and to provide a safeguard to all members, volunteers, clubs and their staff, especially the demographic that encapsulates a large proportion of both associations' Women's Bowls NSW & Bowls NSW have decided that: ... All Bowls events be suspended for an indefinite period, effective immediately 17th March 2020. While this is obviously an unfortunate disruption to the season, Women's Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW believes that a blanket guidance such as this leaves all associations, clubs, players, coaches, officials, and administration in the state in the same position while we watch developments around COVID 19. It is important to note that the season is not being cancelled. At this time the recommended action is seen as a socially responsible position for the lawn bowls community in NSW to take. All clubs will be kept informed of any further developments concerning the restart to the season. See more

13.01.2022 Yesterday, Club President Les Eldridge and Director Lindsay Sharp, along with fellow-bowlers Alan Mackay, Bill Arscott and myself attended a Memorial Service for long-time bowler and club-member Maurie Wilmore, who passed away recently after suffering a massive heart-attack. The service was held at the Salvation Army's Weeroona Chapel at Bass Hill ...and afterwards at Lansvale Sports Club. Many of us will remember Maurie ...and his partner Georgie as active Bowlers here at Cabravale ...both on the greens and as tireless workers behind the scenes. He leaves 10 Children and many grand-chilren ...all will miss him dearly. Vale Maurie Wilmore.
13.01.2022 Hi fellow bowlers, please read latest update concerning restrictions on Coronavirus (Covid 19) from management CVD Diggers. I hope to see you all on the green when this is finally over, in the meantime please stay safe and well. Hi all,... Coronavirus Update Cabra Vale Ex Active Servicemen’s Club The Federal Government’s announcement on Sunday 22 March 2020 which advised that all clubs , pubs, restaurants and cafés were to close from Monday 23 March 2020 at 12.00 pm. The only exception is that takeaway food can be sold out of clubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes who have the capacity. This also means that the club is not open and no sub club meetings or gatherings can proceed on premise until we re- open. At this time ( or until further restrictions come in that may affect our current operations ) Cabra Vale Diggers is offering a takeaway menu that can be delivered to certain areas and or collected from the Club. I have attached the menu for your use. We also have a small offering of bottle shop products which may be useful to your members. That’s includes alcohol and some basic needs. Can you circulate this information to your members and ask them where possible to support the club. Please also note that the Anzac Day March and Dawn service at the Club have been cancelled for this year. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and your families. Kind Regards Michael Foulkes Group General Manager
