20.01.2022 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW NSW GOVERNMENT STIMULUS PACKAGE A $2.3 billion coronavirus stimulus package to boost health funding and provide payroll tax exemptions fo...r businesses has been announced by the NSW Government. The main points are:- $1.6 billion has been allocated by the government to stimulate the economy during the crisis and will help people keep their jobs To double capacity of intensive care units statewide the NSW Health will receive $700 million To employ more cleaners for state-owned buildings and public schools the government has allocated $250 million The $1.6 million to stimulate the economy will include $450 million towards waiving payroll tax for 3 months for businesses who have payrolls of up to $10 million and would not have to pay the tax for the rest of this financial year. Whilst it is not clear it is expected that the payroll tax exemptions will be applied automatically. The State Government has also announced the next round of payroll tax cut will increase the threshold limit to $1 million for the 2020 -21 financial year. The State Government also announced $80 million for waived fees and charges for small business such as cafes, restaurants and those in trade.

First payments in first week of May 2020 A subsidy of $1,500 per fortnight per employee, administered by the ATO, will be paid to businesses that have experienced a downturn of more than 30% (50% for businesses over $1bn).... 02.01.2022 Small Businesses battling COVID-19 can apply for $10,000 grant plus other States support packages A new assistance scheme providing grants of up to $10,000 has been announced by the NSW Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Finance and Small Business for struggling small businesses across NSW. This grant applies to NSW small businesses impacted by the public health orders to restrict social gathering and movement to cover unavoidable costs such as utilities, overheads, legal c...osts and financial advice. To be eligible for the grants, your business must: Have between 1 and 19 employees and a turnover of more than $75,000 Payroll below $900,000 (the NSW Government 2019-20 payroll tax threshold) Have an ABN as at 1 March 2020, be based in NSW and employ staff as at 1 March 2020 Be highly impacted by the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 issued on 30 March 2020. Highly impacted industries include: o Retail trade o Accommodation and food services o Rental, hiring and real estate services o Administrative and support services o Arts and recreation services. o Use the funding for unavoidable business costs The Grant Application form and requirements are proposed to be available on the Service NSW website by 17 April 2020 until 1 June 2020.
