22.01.2022 Mr Camino speaks If there has ever been a time, to have the time, to reflect and revaluate what our true values in life are, it is now amigos! Its like what pil...grims do when walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, a five week 800km pilgrimage, which reminds us of what is important in this life. In this fast pace and changing world, its good to remember the lessons learnt when walking the Camino It’s about the journey, being present, living in the moment, having connection with people, and being in sync with your surroundings. And slowing down! Perhaps that’s what the world needs to do! I'm reminded in the first photo, which was sent to me from a friend in Malta, how simple life is on the Camino! All my worldly possessions are in that backpack, and my only mode of transport are my two legs! Life doesnt get much simpler than that. And amigos I've never been so happy! The other photos are a reminder of the value of human connection. And I think the world is appreciating that now more than ever, what really matters in life are people. On the Camino you had time to connect with people from all around the world on a daily basis, sharing with total strangers who were actually genuinely interested in who you were. You were seen for who you are and not identified by your profession, gender, race, religion, or your age, it was somewhat liberating, and uplifting, when you are acknowledged for just being you. Maybe the world needed to slow down to Camino pace. Walking heightens all your senses and gives you a new awareness of your body, your surroundings and the landscape. If any good has come to the world through this crisis, maybe its making us more appreciative of our friends and family and the world we live in! We all need to change amigos, slow down, buy a back pack and go for a walk! So let’s take time to listen to the sounds of the earth, enjoy life, live life and be happy! Buen camino
