25.01.2022 We are at a pivotal point here in Tropical North Queensland. Found within the Green and Blue Economic Stimulus Package, our region has the answers and the opportunity to be better prepared and create a brighter future. Bu...t we need to gain the support from governments, philanthropy, industry, and our community. Come along to CAFNEC’s @GreenBlueRecovery Campaign Launch Event (on-ground) to discover opportunities to take action with like-minded people, and make sure our economic recovery is not ‘business as usual’. 23.01.2022 Right now your support is monumental. To protect our Spectacled Flying Foxes from extinction we can no longer rely on our environmental laws. Legislation at all levels of government have failed. We need people. To protect our Spectacled Flying Foxes we need to bring our community together in big numbers. People like you who will stand up and have your voice heard. We know that this is the time to mobilise our community in order to put a stop to these detrimental activities.... So we are asking you to come to our Campaign Volunteer Meeting tonight to build our numbers on-ground and plan for our next action. When: Tuesday 1st December from 4pm to 5pm Where: CAFNEC & Online (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3545107001).

03.01.2022 At Green Drinks this month, we will be hearing from Barry Muir! Barry is a widely travelled and published ecologist. He was a university lecturer who consulted to all levels of government and to private industry before retiring to Cairns. He specialises in the interactions between weather, geology, soils, plants and animals. Since retirement Barry has directed his interest towards the role of fungi in the environment and in environmental education. Only recently has it b...een recognised that fungi are the cornerstone of all life on our planet - fruits, vegetables, livestock, building materials, clothing, and much of our oxygen and clean water depend on them. They do this through symbiosis with plants and by recycling nutrients. This talk illustrates the groups of larger fungi you might encounter, and briefly discusses their role in the environment. Registration is required to attend. Follow this link to reserve a space: https://bit.ly/2FIegfN Nibbles provided. Drinks by donation. 24 September 2020 5.30 pm - 7.00 pm At CAFNEC 27-29 Greenslopes St, North Cairns We look forward to seeing you there!
