24.01.2022 This is my first post in a while, and it's definitely not because things haven't been happening.. it's because things have been happening in absolute overdrive.. so expect a massive update in client transformations very soon!!! But this post is too good to wait.. 4 years ago, nick chapman was told he would probably not be able to walk again.. and tonight, HE RAN! ... We've been focusing a lot on functional movements lately to increase nicks stability throughout movement. These include single arm farmers carries, sandbag carries, agility courses and a lot more.. and tonight we thought instead of walking through all this, let's give running a go.. and hey, it happened! So proud of how far nick has come, and can't wait to keep working on further improvements for the future! -Coach Cain

23.01.2022 CLIENT TRANSFORMATION POST Bradley Vella "what a fella" Brad has been training with me for about 9 months now.. and in that time this bloke has come a massive way!... In our first session.. the first thing we did was a 500m row.. about 5 minutes after he had finished the row, brad told me he had to go to the bathroom (whenever someone says that to their pt, 99% of the time it means they're going there to #chunder).. I waited about 10 minutes for him to come out.. and when he didn't I thought I'd better go check up on him.. so I went in, and I saw brad laying flat on the ground under the (locked) cubicle door, completely passed out.. I had to jump over the locked door, open it up, and brad had to get resuscitated by an off duty nurse who was also in the bathroom wearing a towel because he just got out of the shower (and gave brad a very surprising view to wake up to ) These days brad smashes pretty much every session that is given to him.. He has dropped from 98.5kg to 83kg, and has gone from barely lifting before to deadlifting 140kg, squatting 110kg and bench pressing 70kg. He's still got a way to go in his journey, but I'm very proud of how far Brad has come in the time we have trained together! Well done mate -Coach Cain

19.01.2022 CLIENT TRANSFORMATION Here we have Angela Brady. Ang started with me way back in January.. with a starting weight of 108.9kg. Today she weighed in at 89.3kg!!!'... There have been a lot of sweat and even more tears along our way, but I couldn't be more proud of this amazing lady! At the beginning of march we set the goal of getting her from her weight at the time (104.9kg) to under 100kgs before April.. if she achieved this, then she can train me.. (I was definitely nervous of what was to come) That month she managed to get down to 96.2kg (that's 8.7kg in one month!!!!), and for her chance to train me, she decided to take me to the spartan race at Picton! It was so much harder than what I thought it would be.. but as a team we got it done and smashed it! We still have a long way to go on Angela's journey, but it's one that has been, and will continue to be, very rewarding! Kudos ang! Keep up the great work

16.01.2022 CLIENT TRANSFORMATION Here is Andrew Dawkins.. one of the most inspiring men I have met! He's going to kill me for telling everyone this, but this bloke is 61 years old.. and last week achieved a bench press 1rm of 60kg, has increased his deadlift from 40kg to 80kg, and has increased his squat from 40kg to 70kg. ... As well as this, he has dropped from 90.4kg to 88.9kg, and most notably, he has dropped from 27.4% body fat, to 24.7%. Andrews training has predominately been focused around maximising his health in a holistic sense, by implementing steady state cardio, HIIT cardio, strength and hypertrophy training to get him into the shape that he is in today (a lot better than your average 61 year old). The majority of Andrews resistance training has been strength and power based. And your probably thinking why would you be doing strength and power training in a man that's 61 years old? Well, as we get older, strength and power training become increasingly important, as it increases our quality of life, and reduces the risk of injury. Think of this.. one of the most common modes of injury in the elderly population is having a fall.. and once an elder person has a fall, they generally spend a decent amount of time in hospital.. what could stop people from having a fall? Or even minimise the effect? Well, it would be the ability of our body to respond to unanticipated situations with powerful movements to 1. Put their leg out to stop them falling, or 2. Brace the body for a landing that will minimise the injury. Obviously this doesn't mean that we should be getting all elderly people performing power cleans and snatches.. (even though we are doing plenty of split jerks with Andrew), but implementing power in squatting, deadlifting, bench pressing and other compound movements have been seen to be very effective! Do you want to live longer with the ability to pick up your grandchildren, or take yourself shopping and carry it rather than taking a carer to support you? And do you want to be able to stop or minimise the effects of having a fall as you get older? Start lifting weights now. Get strong. Get powerful. Congratulations to Andrew for how far you've come! Everyone should follow in his footsteps. And as he said to me the other day "train until the day you die" -Coach Cain
