22.01.2022 We are now in 'flu' season (typically June - September) and there are often similar symptons between flu and COVID19. Just a friendly reminder that if you feel unwell, please stay home. We are all working very hard to keep our schools as safe and clean as possible.

21.01.2022 With the recent easing of restrictions announced for Queensland, Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns has made some changes to the Operating Guidelines for Term 3. Some key takeaways from the new rules include: Gatherings ... Schools may have fetes, presentations and other public gatherings with up to 500 people, providing they have completed the COVID Safe Event Checklist, and operate under its guidance. No approval is required from Public Health. For events larger than 500 persons, please contact the WHS Manager. Events which are held for staff and students only will not require a COVID Safe Event Checklist, but where parents or other public members are involved, then the Checklist will be required. Where the public are involved, students and staff are to be included in the total count of persons allowed. There continues to be no limit on numbers for regular school assemblies. Camping As anticipated, the explicit prohibition on camping grounds for schools’ groups has been removed, so schools may go ahead with camping trips, in line with guidance in the Term 3 Operating Guidelines. Sports Whilst there have been some changes to sporting organisations, schools should continue to follow advice in the Term 3 Operating Guidelines, which also covers inter-school competitions. Physical distancing and venue density There have been no general changes to these areas, so schools will continue to follow advice in the Term 3 Operating Guidelines. 01.01.2022 Queensland's border is open from July 10, except to Victoria. A border declaration will be required stating the traveler has not been to Victoria in the last 14 days. A $4000 fine applies for falsifying the declaration. Travelers who have been in Victoria would need to quarantine at their own expense for 2 weeks. From this Friday, 3 July, restrictions within Queensland will ease. Children's sport, contact sport, spectators, bars, pokies, casinos and churches are back. Social distancing of 1.5m is still required. Weddings are lifted to 100 people. Smaller restaurants of 100-200m2 can have 1 person per 2 square meters, capped at 50. The 4m2 rule applies to concerts.
