21.01.2022 Local Charity = Local hands How amazing is this guy? It is rare to capture a photo of this unique individual, as he is always on the other side of the lens! ... We were able to snap some shots of Paul from FrontRow Foto doing his thang (being a comedian always). Paul has such a great sense of community, he gives back to COUCH Wellness Centre with his time, skill and bad ‘dad jokes’ Thank you so much Paul, you are amazing. Paul recently snapped some great photos of our team, clients and volunteers enjoying the services and activities available at the COUCH Wellness Centre. If anyone is looking for a great photographer with an even better sense of humour to help capture the perfect moment, we can’t recommend Paul highly enough.

19.01.2022 We couldn’t do it without Our Team! The time and effort that is donated from our volunteer army at the COUCH Centre is cherished from our clients, staff, sponsors, donors and community. 17.01.2022 We think this sums us up in a nutshell. Community = COUCH. There are simply no words available to express our sincere thanks, gratitude and absolute awe of everyone who has contributed in anyway towards COUCH’s vision of better health and social services for local people living with cancer. Our first ‘child’ was the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre, in which so many people worked tirelessly towards. Since 2011, our community now has access to this vital Queensland Health ...Oncology Treatment Facility which supports hundreds of people every month. Our second ‘child’ is the COUCH Wellness Centre, again we have experienced the support, kindness and tireless efforts of so many people to create a new approach to managing health and well-being whilst living with cancer. The Centre opened in May 2019 and provides nursing, allied health and complementary therapies in a tranquil rainforest setting. Anyone diagnosed with cancer can access the services and supports provided just drop in to the Centre or call them on 4032 0820. All parents are proud of their kids, we are too. Here’s to locals helping locals affected by cancer.

17.01.2022 One year ago today, we celebrated with our community the opening of the COUCH Wellness Centre. It was a momentous occasion, with the vision and dream of the late Charles Woodward coming to fruition. The opening of the region's first integrated community Cancer Wellness Centre has forever changed the health and social care landscape for people living with cancer in FNQ. Fast forward one year and we are extremely proud of the impact we have achieved in such a short time. ...We are so thankful to everyone who has contributed in any way to help create this vital service for our region. Because of your ongoing support, we will continue to make a huge difference. Thanks to our incredible team at the COUCH Wellness Centre who go above and beyond to help our clients manage their health and well-being during their experience with cancer. Happy Birthday! We share this with all of you. www.couch.org.au Cheers for the Birthday well wishes from Glenn McGrath and Michael Crossland. We appreciate your support of our service. #localmatters #keepitincairns #cancercare #cancerwellness #makeadifference

13.01.2022 British-born local tourism icon Pip Woodward is a trained Orthopaedic nurse and arrived in Australia with her husband Charles in 1974, where they opened their first tourism attraction, Rainforestation Nature Park. Fast forward 46 years and the Woodward family continue to be at the forefront of Cairns tourism, with an impressive amount of popular attractions and tours including Wildlife Habitat, Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Tropic Wings, Wooro...onooran Safaris and Jungle Tours & Trekking. Pip founded COUCH in 2006 with husband Charles, after lobbying state and federal governments to establish a radiation oncology unit in Cairns. The Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre welcomed its first patient five years later in 2011. Sadly, Pip’s husband Charles lost his battle with cancer in 2017 and Pip continues to be one of the driving forces behind COUCH to ensure that local people with cancer can receive treatment and support locally.

13.01.2022 Spud, the COUCH Potato is at it again! Spreading happiness throughout Cairns. Who can resist that smile?! We had a great day at the recent Feb Fit event held at Fogarty Park. Spud had an even better time dancing on stage, working the crowd, giving free hugs and lots of ‘high fives’. Who is Spud you ask? Only our volunteers know.. shhhhh it’s a secret. Huge big Spud Hug to all of our volunteers and staff who attended the Feb Fit event. You definitely got Spud, the COUCH Potato up and moving!!

11.01.2022 Our COUCH Wellness Centre Nurses have continued to support our clients, welcome new clients and provide guidance and information to those in need during COVID19. Unfortunately cancer knows no bounds, and whilst our nurses are not on the front line of COVID (big virtual hug to those that are!), they are on the front line of helping locals to manage their health and well-being during their experience with cancer. Thank you for all that you do. #internationalnursesday2020
