21.01.2022 Usually it’s before and after pictures of our deck projects but today’s brush sand warrants before and mid job pictures.......amazing what new technology can do to old ugly wood.

20.01.2022 Just finished my largest residential project to date. 153 SQ M of Deck on 2 levels and 3 Sets of Hardwood Stairs. The previous owners used Sikkens Cetol Deck on all surfaces and it all had failed in the harsh Cairns environment. Everything sanded back to bare wood and coated with 2 Coats of Cutek Wood Preservative.

15.01.2022 These Spotted Gum Decks are only 1year old and the water based decking oil (not oil at all) applied by the builder has already failed. The Sap Wood was all black and mouldy and the owner was very unhappy. Fully Brush Sanded, all sap wood mould dealt with and fully treated with Cutek Wood Preservative now and looking lovely. Owner is very happy now.

12.01.2022 Feeling Very Lucky and Grateful right now. My deck restoration business is hot, dusty, sweaty, dirty, loud, self isolating and anti-social. I’m fully masked, gloved and ear phoned all day at work in the tropics and no one wants to come near me. Never would have thought this business was actually anti-viral and pandemic resistant as well. I guess the shitty, dirty jobs really do pay off some times. #dirtybirdgetstheworms.

12.01.2022 Letting your new Merbau deck age and weather before coating it is the best thing you can do after it is built. The deep red tannins in Merbau decking need to fully come out before coating it and that can take months to happen. Many builders coat Merbau decks as soon as they are built, leaving tannins under the coating. This can lead to tannin bleed under the coating and other coating issues with new decking. 10.01.2022 It is only a small pool deck but what a difference a brush sand and 2 coats of Cutek Wood Preservative make. This is proof that water based Decking Oil’s can’t withstand the harsh weather of FNQ.

02.01.2022 Big project this week overlooking Cairns. Brush sanded old deck coated in Jarrah coloured coating back to bare As New wood and did a tannin bleed and brush sand on a large newly built deck section that has been ageing and bleeding for about 6 months. 2 coats of Cutek Wood Preservative to match it all up and we have one huge happy deck and some happy clients.

02.01.2022 Just finished my largest residential project to date. 155 Sq M of Mixed Gum Decking on 2 levels. Covered in 20 yrs of brown Ultra deck coating. 14 days of sanding and coating with Cutek Oil and the home owners love their new jungle house deck.
