25.01.2022 Division 1, August 16, 2020, (Part3)

23.01.2022 Thanks to John G for the pics.

23.01.2022 Get the message out there, and bring your friends along!

22.01.2022 Our Div3 team also played their last game for 2020 on Sunday, combining with the Dodgers Baseball Club Cairns for a scratch match against the Cubs Baseball Club - Cairns. Lots of fun was had by all. Looking forward to seeing you all next season.

22.01.2022 Putting together "Hygiene Packs" for each of our teams ready to restart season 2020. Baseball is already non-contact and we're just making a few tweaks to make it COVID-safer.

21.01.2022 "The incendiary arm of teenager Brock Wollin has pitched the Cairns City Reds to back-to-back Cairns Baseball League crowns in emphatic fashion."

21.01.2022 Full moon over the fields tonight.

19.01.2022 The Teeball theme for Saturday 22nd is "International Day." Obviously players in other age-groups will be wearing team uniforms during their games, but you coul...d wear a different Tshirt when you arrive in the morning. Parents are welcome to get involved too! I'm imagining we'll see Japanese soccer uniforms, temporary tattoos of Canadian flags, I NY caps, I've been to Bali tank-tops... get creative! See more

18.01.2022 And now for something completely different...

18.01.2022 Our diamonds in the canefields. "If you build it, they will come."

17.01.2022 Division1, 16th August 2020, (Part2)

17.01.2022 How good is this?! A short season of clean, cheap, team-sport fun. (We're also seeking players in other age-groups too... tell your friends!)

17.01.2022 Division 1- Reds (20) defeat Cubs2 (0) behind Ward's No-Hitter. . (This report was mostly generated by Gamechanger software.) Riki Ward was brilliant on the hill on Sunday, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Reds Div1 past Cubs2 20-0. He pitched all 5 innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out 10, and walking none. [Apparently robo-reporter didn't notice the two walks from hit-by-pitches.] The Reds offence was boosted by Brock Wollin who went 4-for-5 at the plate, ...with three singles and a double. Reds scattered 12 hits in the game, with Mac Wollin and Jesse Woolrich also collecting multiple hits. In the field, Reds were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kyle Ashby, at catcher for 5 innings, gave up zero stolen bases, and removed the only runner who did attempt a steal. . "Powered by Narrative Science and GameChanger Media. Copyright 2020. 15.01.2022 Reds Division 1: Inaugural winners of the Steve Landsberg Cup.

15.01.2022 Photographer Dominic Chaplin from Pine Creek Pictures (who took these photos for example) will be taking our Junior team photos on Saturday September 5th. Times to be advised. All players are to attend, whether you purchase a photo or not. Costs are 1) $17 for a team photo; 2) $17 for an individual photo; and 3) $20 a team photo with the individual on the side. See Amber to get an order envelope this Saturday.

14.01.2022 Another glorious day in paradise.

14.01.2022 Juniors will be wearing black armbands and observing one minute silence before games on Saturday. Seniors will be doing similar on Sunday, but also with a formal ceremony from 1pm. Please ensure all aspects of your uniforms are correct (except Teeballers who may be wearing Star Wars costumes.)

13.01.2022 Reds will be ready as soon as the various permissions come through... JOIN US in 2020.

13.01.2022 Division 1 versus Cubs, 16 Aug, 2020 (part1)

12.01.2022 Socially isolated but it's also kinda hypnotic and therapeutic just driving back and forth. Anybody else wanna play?

12.01.2022 Best wishes to Joey, who is going in for surgery in Japan this week. Due to Covid restrictions he's not allowed any visitors during his 2 week hospitalisation - not even his parents! Say G'day and wish him well if you remember him from season 2016.

11.01.2022 Our registration portal is now open. League fees will be collected separately but you can pay your Baseball Queensland and Baseball Australia fees online at https://reg.sportlomo.com//basebal/northqld/cairnscityreds

10.01.2022 Who's up for a bit of freelance baseball? (Sorry, only for U16, U18 and self-funded match officials.)

10.01.2022 Photos from our senior Division 1 finals, 2020. Reds win 13-0.

10.01.2022 Reds Division 3 Loses To Cubs3 In WalkOff . (This report was mostly generated by Gamechanger software.) It came down to the last play, but Reds was on the wrong end of a 6-5 walkoff on Sunday. Reds lost, despite out-hitting the Cubs nine hits to four, with Mick Saunders, Hikaru Yabe and debutante U16 player Liam Ashby all managing multiple hits for Reds.... Cubs were down 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Cubs pitcher Andrew Hearn singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. . "Powered by Narrative Science and GameChanger Media. Copyright 2020. 09.01.2022 According to Baseball Queensland's Approved COVID Plan, Walker Road Baseball Facility is big enough to potentially host training sessions for up to 200 people (provided approval is met for all the other conditions.) Cairns Reds have applied to for up to 80 juniors across the four diamonds during daylight, and for up to 60 adults under lights on the main diamond. Players will be divided into unique groups of 20 people, and there is to be no mingling between these groups. For d...etails, please read the 'Return to Training' page on our website (www.cairnsreds.com) but in summary: * If you are unwell, you MUST stay home. * Training start and finish times will be staggered to avoid congestion - if you arrive early, stay in your vehicle. * Only one parent/guardian per junior player. * ALL people entering the premises MUST sign in and out, and provide contact details. * Hands must be washed before and after training, and all equipment (including bats) is to be disinfected/wiped before being shared with another person. * Downloading the Covid Safe App is strongly recommended. 06.01.2022 The Reds Committee meeting tonight was held "remotely." Obviously we're not interested in playing the game remotely, but if you are remotely interested in playing the game, please complete the EOI on our website so we can put you on our mailing list and keep you informed. http://cairnsreds.com The other thing you can do to help your committee get the season started is to do your bit to "flatten the curve." (Curves ARE something we like to see in baseball, but not right now please!)

04.01.2022 Some great photos from the U14's game on Opening Day 2020, thanks to John G.

04.01.2022 The new committee would like to extend its gratitude to our outgoing president Dan del Nido for his service to the Cairns Reds. He has demonstrated great leadership and commitment to the club for many years. Thank you Dan. Thanks also to John Gattera for his contribution over the years. His involvement has enabled the club to move forward and become a stronger organisation. There is no doubt these two young gentlemen will remain involved in local baseball. Please thank Dan & ...John when you next see them at the grounds. Thank you also to Julie Turner who has been our treasurer, working remotely from Adelaide. Her contribution during this time has been invaluable. Lastly, I would like to thank our new committee members for stepping up and taking the club forward. Please support them in their role and any offers of help will be greatly appreciated. Amber Gattera See more

03.01.2022 Brock Wollin Drives In Six - Reds1 Defeat Cubs1 . (This report was mostly generated by Gamechanger software.) Brock Wollin was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Sunday, scoring six runs from three hits to lead the Reds Division 1 team past Cubs1 on Sunday. The final scoreline was 13-2. Reds racked up five hits on the day, with Wollin and Jesse Marnock each collecting multiple hits. Reds also notched up a total of 6 stolen bases....
