21.01.2022 Manihot Trail at Walker Rd got a bit of a trim today and is looking great. Weeds really love the mix of sunny days broken up by a bit of rain. Hopefully next year we can plant some trees in this area which will help keep the weeds down. Cairns Regional Council also installed a sign to point people in the right direction. Thanks to Sarah and Christian from Green Space, Our Place - Volunteer Program for coming down each week to lend a hand.

We have been granted special permission to use the Goldfields Trail on the day of the Totally Mental Bike Ride by National Parks and the trail will be 100% safe and ridable on the day. 18.01.2022 A lot of hard work and planning went into refreshing this feature in Manihot xc trail. It is most certainly a black feature, so please have a look before you send it. We also put in a new kids line at the start of the trail that skips the steep pinch and removed a fallen tree. 18.01.2022 Working bee Old Boot Track, Sunday morning at 9:00-12:00. We are getting close to works on the new uphill trail, but before we do that we need to touch up the existing descending trails. We need to put some B lines and re-allign part of the existing downhill to make room for the new track. The more people we get to this the more we get done. All COVID rules need to be adhered to. 17.01.2022 We have been given some bad news from national parks. They have closed the Goldsborough Goldfields Trail due to recent heavy rain in the area. We are planning a... slightly shorter ride at False Cape. It will be approximately 10km return to the WW2 battery from Koombal. Please meet at the East Trinity boat ramp and follow instructions from our volunteers. 09.01.2022 Had a clean up if the Elephant Ears site this morning. Trail has been whipper snipped and blown, the reveg site has been tidied and a ton of rubbish has been removed from the area. 08.01.2022 Many of you have been asking how to join the club. There are a few different ways to join, One is to go through MTBA https://www.mtba.org.au/membership/ and select Southside Mtb Club when you pay for MTBA membership. This gives you a range of benefits including insurance and race day licences. The other is to email [email protected] the club directly with Name, age, Address and Ph No. We will reply to you to with our bank details for payment. Membership last 12 months from date of payment cost is $30 for adults and $20 for under 18. Joining the club gives you access to all of our social events, helps contribute to our trail fund and most importantly, the more members we have the more likely we are to get approvals for more trails.

06.01.2022 New entrace to Manihot, xc trail at Walker Rd. It's still a work in progress and a little soft, but it is rideable. Be careful if you are used to doing the steep roll in at the start as it has changed. We will be back next Thursday morning to finish it off and tweak a few more sections. Anyone who would like to help out we will be there from 9:00 next Thursday morning

05.01.2022 **Great News** We got word yesterday that Cairns Regional Council has unanimously endorsed the 'COVID-19 Cairns Local Recovery Plan' which includes the expansion of the MTB trail network.
