20.01.2022 What a GLORIOUS few days away spent with our beautiful dogs down at Moonee Beach Glamping! We caught up with John, Dianne and Chilli who I'm certain Richie recognised the moment he set eyes on her! Richie met another BC puppy while we were away, and while he was friendly his reaction wasn't what we witnessed with Chilli. Richie had a special bond with Chilli the moment she could walk so it was very special to see him react in such a beautiful way Cali was to busy wanting t...o swim the whole time... Most likely thinking her job as a mother was done We still managed to light an evening fire, even while glamping

At this age they go through a rebellious "teenager" phase and their legs seem to be the only body part that grows We can't wait to watch them grow over the next 6 months and adopt their elegant adult proportions.... #teenager #puppyganglies

14.01.2022 Taking expressions of interest for our planned litter After careful consideration and advice from Veterinary reproduction specialists Calihills has decided to plan a litter for November. If successful this will be our final litter until atleast mid/late 2022. Cali unfortunately fell sick shortly after giving birth from her first litter. Any breeders worst nightmare is complications during pregnancy, whelping or raising a litter. We do our best to ensure we avoid/mi...nimise any complications but some things are just out of our hands. It's terrifying to see a member of our family sick and those of you who know us, know exactly how much Cali means to us. Our dogs are not just "dogs" they are a huge part of our family. In normal circumstances we would give cali a break this season and mate her the following season. Cali developed "metritis" (postpartem infection of the uterus) 10 days after birth and spent a few days on an IV drip and antibiotics (with careful consideration) while I spent countless nights sleeping next to her on the floor. Why are we sharing this you ask? As breeders we never want people to think we are "pumping out puppies" and that we dont have our dogs best interests at heart. Any decision to breed has been thoroughly discussed with Repoduction specialists to ensure we always do the best by our dogs. The risk we faced if we had not mated Cali this season would be a potential "Pyometra" (infected uturus that would most likely result in desexing). It was better for Cali that we let her have what we call a "back to back" litter as this was in her best interest. We pride ourselves in being open and honest with all our breeding plans. 07.01.2022 Someone loves his new safe zone At only 4 months of age Richie now has complete run of the house during the night with access to the doggy door. We start toilet training our puppies from the moment their eyes open (roughly 2 weeks of age), this allows an easier transition into their new homes.... If you continue setting your puppy up for success you can have them completely house trained quicker and have a solid foundation from the start. Richie continued to sleep in his puppy pen with artificial grass then was upgraded to a soft crate in our bedroom from mid july which was going great. Now we trust him enough to have full access to the house because we know he takes himself outside to the toilet Last night's the camera caught Richie taking him self off into the new purpose built crate and it was such a good feeling to know he loves that area If trained correctly, crate training gives our dogs a safe zone and an area they feel comfortable in. We start teaching our puppies crate training from an early age and it certianly pays off
