23.01.2022 Callaghan parkrun's fifth anniversary is coming up very very soon and in celebration, we'd love to see your favourite memories of the course from the past five years. Submit your photos and I'll make a collage of our participants. Our page has thousands of photos to choose from so you're bound to appear if you've run, walked or volunteered at Callaghan before. 22.01.2022 Where are you headed to this weekend? All of the other events in our region are open this weekend. We are making progress with The University of Newcastle, Australia and will be shouting from the rooftops when we can return to campus!

20.01.2022 UPDATE on re-opening post-COVID19 for Callaghan course UoN has been very clear with us that they are not going to review our expired land use agreement until after the no visitor on campus policy changes. Sorry.... The next date for us to discuss this with UoN is mid-late January. Thank you to those who had already reached out to us to offer support with the resumption of our event - we appreciate it and look forward to seeing you also :) Please enjoy & support the other events available, and we will be in touch as & when we have more news.

13.01.2022 Thanks to every runner, walker, volunteer and sponsor who has supported Callaghan parkrun over the past five years! While we're not together, I've compiled a collage of memories. It's a big pic so be sure to look at it full size. Major apologies if your photo is tiny, unflattering or missing- it's got almost 150 photos from across the years and I tried to include as many different people as possible. From August 2015 to March 2020, Callaghan parkrun has had 229 events complet...ed by 3,684 different finishers supported by 400 volunteers. We've faced dangerous storms, regular construction and ravenous mosquitoes and we will get through this current pandemic. If you're able to safely run or walk, get out there! Maybe record your time with (not)parkrun? Take care.

03.01.2022 Hello parkrunners, just to reiterate the main news this morning, there will be a gradual reopening of events across NSW. Callaghan might end up starting later than other events but keep an eye on our socials and official channels for when that will be. Under the new COVID-19 framework we will need volunteers more than ever, so we'd appreciate all expressions of interest. In other news, I am moving away from Newcastle and will therefore be leaving the role of co-event director...! Peter will be continuing as fearless leader. I started participating in parkrun the same day Callaghan's event opened at the Uni five years ago. Since then I've officially run the course 79 times and volunteered in 38 roles, with a year as co-ED. I'm so proud of how we've gotten through so many challenges and it's regrettable that I'm not sticking around for our victorious return. Keep on running, walking and volunteering and I hope to see you around one day! Kind regards Owen (the one with the beard) P.S.
