19.01.2022 Weeeeeee I got flowers !!!!!!! Totally unexpected from one of my gorgeous satisfied clients. Her bubba was waking every two hours overnight and she was exhausted! We did some really gentle hands on sleep training (there's lots of alternatives to Cry It Out) and gave some more structure to the day time. The result? See said flowers.... I'll be officially launching in the next few months so if you're in the same boat, hang in there, help is on its way!

19.01.2022 I have no issue pimping my child out purely so I can get lollies!

17.01.2022 Helloooooo Daycare! Now the fun starts trying to get back into a routine after the long weekend. How was your weekend/holidays? Do you let the rules slip on the weekend or is it business as usual?

13.01.2022 How does it feel like to use a sleep consultant? Here's some feedback from a client I was working with last week. "I've been so consistent with everything because I really want this to work. Its actually really helped my anxiety with being consistent and having a plan. Also being accountable to someone as well really helps." I work with my clients every step of the way so that they can rely on my support when times get tough, you're not just paying for a sleep plan, you're pa...ying to have someone in your corner when you're ready to Call It A Night! Send me a message if you would like to book a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if it's for you.

13.01.2022 Ditching the dummy can be hard! I get it, they work! My advice for parents with babies under 6mths who want to get rid of it is to go cold turkey, but it's easier said than done. I went through the same thing and kept plugging my child back in until I had enough. Anyone else have to do this? (soz about the dodgy video)

13.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very happy Easter from me and the little bunny! My kids got PJs for Easter. It's become a tradition to get PJs at Easter time at our place for some reason. Does anyone else do that?

10.01.2022 Ergh excited toddlers before 5am can be so cute but so annoying! Actually, we all know nothing good happens after 3am! Did you know that besides the room environment, the most common reason for early wakeups is overtiredness?

09.01.2022 When NOT to use a Sleep Consultant..... I should be telling you about all the amazing benefits of using a sleep consultant such as Call It A Night but there is a time and a place and if you're not ready, then please DON'T DO IT! If getting our kids to sleep was as simple as shutting the door and walking away with no protesting then there would be no need for sleep consultants. But the reality is that often, sleep training is hard and creating a new expectation around sleep fo...r your family doesn't come easily. It takes persistence, there will be tears and it takes a lot of determination from the parents' side. If you don't feel like the issue you're experiencing is that bad, or you feel forced into solving a problem when you don't even see it as a problem then don't do it. You can always try something later. It's not a problem unless it's a problem. It's better and fairer to your child to give the process your 100% commitment rather than not being on board with it and sending confusing messages to your child by chopping and changing or giving up half way through. Personally, I knew my baby didn't need feeding through the night anymore and I still had to work myself up to dropping those feeds. If I'd tried it before I was ready, I would have given up and confused the baby. (It wasn't even that bad in the end I had built it up in my head) When you have made a decision that you are ready for change, with the help if Call It A Night, the process is often MUCH less scary than imagined and you will be surprised in how quickly things turn around. It can be a scary step to take, but we have your back when you do.

07.01.2022 I managed to fend him off for eight months but tonight I lost the battle. Baby's first haircut! When did you first cut your baby's hair?

07.01.2022 Teething is the culprit of all evil in babyland! But have you ever noticed the teething symptoms lasting for months? Or that they come and go but no tooth arrived yet? Sorry to say it but then it's not teething. The process of getting a new tooth isn't actually as painful as we give it credit for and we often mistakenly attribitute tooth pain for other illnesses like fever or vommiting. In fact, the true symptoms of teething usually only occur one to two days on either side o...f the tooth breaking through. Definitely not for weeks on end. I get it though, it's comforting as parents to be able to blame something for your baby's discomfort but kids get sick a lot and they go from sleeping well to barely sleeping in the blink of an eye. Just think twice before you put it down to teeth. It could be a sleep regression that you can fix in a few nights rather than months of not sleeping due to teeth! Have a look at this article that succinctly sums it up much better than I can with research. http://www.slate.com//teething_symptoms_in_babies_are_not_ How does teething affect your family?

05.01.2022 This made me laugh so hard everything leaked https://youtu.be/Rko_jlXgiy8

04.01.2022 Needless to say, I'm VERY passionate about supporting women, today on #internationalwomensday and every day. 2018 is a year for change as we continue to #pressforprogress and proudly step into any role we choose without making excuses or being scrutinised or penalised. Here's to strong women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them

04.01.2022 7 TIPS FOR EARLY MORNING RISERS Anyone up at the crack of dawn this morning? Did you just pop down to the beach for a romantic walk to watch the sunrise? hahah yeah right! Early morning rising seem to be something a lot of people just accept as the norm but it is possible to get your child sleeping until 7am. ... 1. Temperature..... Are they too cold? It's that funny time of year when it's still warm when they go to bed but cool in the early hours. Load up with clothing and start the night with the fan on if needed, then turn it off before you go to sleep. . Light..... In summer it's light at 4.15am where I live. This makes a huge difference so make sure that room is blacked out! Get some foil over the windows if needed and embrace your baby crack den :) . 3. Hunger..... Some babies still need milk right up until 9 months so make sure yours is getting enough (but don't go overboard). If they're older, are they getting enough protein? They should be having up to 30g a day from 10 months. 4. Morning Nap.....This can have a big impact on early mornings as if it's too soon it can be used as a continuation of night sleep. If baby is over six months, make sure that first nap is no earlier than 8.30am, preferably 9/9.30am. Also make sure it's at the appropriate length for your baby's age. . 5. Overtiredness..... This is the bain of my existence! When kids are overtired they release a hormone called cortisol which makes them wired. Because they are naturally in a lighter sleep cycle in the early hours, the surge of cortisol is enough to fully wake them. We stay on top of this with an EARLY BEDTIME. Soz but the later to bed, later awake theory simply doesn't work. . 6. Sleep Training...... Sometimes all of the above isn't enough so you need to do some sleep training to get them to a more appropriate wake-up time. You can do it in stages if you want, aim for 6am, then 6.15am the next day, 6.30am the day after etc. . 7. Interaction..... Even when you are sleep training sometimes the interaction can be too much as they don't have enough drive to go back to sleep. For this reason, sometimes the sleep training method needs to have the least amount of interaction so it's something to consider if you're not getting anywhere.

03.01.2022 SLEEP REGRESSIONS! Why must they taunt us? Did you know that they occur when your baby is learning a new skill such as a deeper sleep cycle, motor skills like sitting or rolling, even language skills will cause a regression. Having a structured sleep environment will mean they don't hit as hard or at all so if you're going through one, stick to your schedule as best you can!
