The human race would not hav...e come this far if the birth process was flawed. It's a pretty clever system. As a side note: More often than not, problems that arise are caused by the overuse of unnecessary interventions that lead to a cascade of interventions that lead to bigger problems. Not always, but often.

04.01.2022 Informed consent, bodily autonomy, human rights in childbirth... topics I am very passionate about. In fact, most of the time when they come up, they make my bl...ood BOIL. Because, unfortunately, most of the time they are disregarded, forgotten about or swept aside on purpose. It's your birth and your body, mumma, and it needs to be YOUR choice what kind of birth your going to have. This may be hard to hear, some of you may not believe me, but it's a conversation that often comes up with doula clients AFTER the birth because that's when they realise where my political rage comes from. There are birth professionals out there who give inaccurate, biased information, who do procedures without receiving informed consent, who coerce, bully and fear monger women into choices they didn't sign up for and don't need. Obviously not all people working in the maternity system are like this, but you'd be surprised at how many behave like this. If you're a past client reading this, or you know what I'm talking about, do me a favour and agree with me in the comments so it doesn't seem like I'm a lonely, grumpy lady. ;)
