04.01.2022 VEHICLE IMPOUNDED FOR 90 DAYS AS POLICE TARGET DRIVERS ON FRASER ISLAND AND TEEWAH Almost 70 drivers have copped fines, and another three have been charged w...ith allegedly drink driving as part of a police blitz on Fraser Island and Teewah Beach. Two four-wheel-drives were immediately ordered off the road due to unsafe modifications. Gympie police patrolled Fraser Island and Teewah over the weekend, conducting 396 roadside breath tests and 16 roadside drug tests. Police impounded a vehicle for 90 days after it was driven dangerously. Inspector Pat Swindells said there was no excuse for driving dangerously, just because their vehicles weren't on bitumen. I urge all beach motorists to drive to the conditions and remember that the Fatal Five applies equally to the beach as well as our roads."
