18.01.2022 We are getting quite good with Toastmasters Zoom meetings! Tonight at changeover online we also had annual awards. Congratulations to speech competition winners from throughout the year. A huge congratulations to June for her Most Improved award and Kerrie for her Toastmasters of the Year award. We are looking forward to getting back to face to face meetings so all our members can join us.

17.01.2022 Looking back over our last 599 meetings, we have had lots of fun in Camden Toastmasters when we were able to meet in person. Here is one from 2002 when we had a Murder Mystery Night.

17.01.2022 Our theme of ‘Local History’ drew out lots of interesting stories tonight. We had one speech called’Hope Out of the Ashes’ related to a new exhibition at a local museum and an excellent educational on the art of evaluation. Although we had technical difficulties to start, the meeting was well worth the patience of our Toastmasters. Now we are planning for our club Humourous Speeches and our Table Topics Competitions.

17.01.2022 It is with great regret that we wish to inform everyone that Camden Toastmasters is suspending meetings for the moment. This is due to COVID-19 and our meeting venue (Carrington Retirement facility) has been closed.

15.01.2022 We had an enjoyable meeting for our last of 2020. The theme was Christmas Around the World. Introductions included adding a Christmas decoration so that it was visible on the Zoom screens. Members then had short prepared speeches on traditions of a country starting with the letter of of their last name. Table Topics was a pile of virtual presents where members chose between two Christmas boxes and answered a question about the contents. Happy Christmas everyone! We will return on the 11 January.

15.01.2022 We had an enjoyable evening tonight with the theme of ‘Tennis Tales’. Everyone had some experience with tennis to tell us about. Pam gave a great speech about Andre Agassi.

14.01.2022 From Toastmasters International: Ready to be Pathways-wiser? Read a common misconception regarding Pathways, as abovethen discover the reality. It might pleasantly surprise you! Truth: Awards that members earned in the traditional program will always be recognized by Toastmasters International; in other words, these awards are a permanent part of the member’s history and will not be removed. All members who earned an award in the traditional education program, be it a Competent Communicator, Advanced Leader, or even an Able Toastmaster award, will maintain that history and be able to view it in their personal profile. As for Pathways, members earn recognition sooner and more often than in the traditional program, with certificates of recognition and digital badges awarded upon the completion of each level.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to all our participants in both our Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests last night. They were amazing as it was our first competition using the Zoom format. All those who officiated were also amazing. It just goes to show how flexible and willing our club members are to step out of their comfort zone and try new things. Well done team! We had 3 very funny speeches but this year Dave was the winner with his speech about 30 Something. The Table Topics question was ‘If you went in a hot air balloon over a city, what city would it be and why?’ Heather won with her description of Adelaide and seeing her family.

13.01.2022 We are very happy to announce that we will be back for our first face to face meeting on Monday 22 February at 7pm for a 7.30pm. Please send a PM if you would like further details.

12.01.2022 Another great meeting on Zoom. A cooking theme with a few interesting stories! A great speech from Paran about leadership and an amazing Ice Breaker speech from Dave. We are looking forward to many more him!

12.01.2022 Our 'numbers' thematic meeting was enjoyable last night. June had some very interesting questions in Table Topics to make us think about how numbers are used in our lives. Lesley continued on her Pathways journey with a planning speech. Dave has now completed his 3rd Pathways speech. Leonie gave an excellent evaluation to give Dave ideas of what he does well and what he could work on for improvement. Jake joined us as a guest and we hope that he will be a member by next meeting! We have managed quite well with Zoom meetings but we are all looking forward to being able to have face to face meetings in the new year.

10.01.2022 Does the thought of public speaking terrify you but you really wish it didn’t? Camden Toastmasters provides the forum to learn new skills and practice speaking at your own pace to build confidence in a positive, supportive environment. PM us for more information, or to attend a meeting as a visitor and see if it’s a fit for you.

06.01.2022 Last night the theme for our Zoom meeting was ‘Native Flowers’. We had some great introductions from our members and guests. Speakers are getting very creative and adjusting well to the online meetings until we are able to meet face to face again. Our Table Topics(questions without notice) were also set on the theme and answers given used some wonderful visual images.

04.01.2022 Camden Toastmasters is back! We are having our meetings online via Zoom. Our next meeting is: Monday 8th June 2020 at 7pm.... Visitors are welcome. Please message us if interested.

04.01.2022 Our next meeting will be our 600th! That is a great record! Under normal circumstances we would be having a party to celebrate but unfortunately we are still having Zoom meetings. If you would like to join us then please send a private message so we can arrange it. We will have a party when we are able to have our usual meetings in the future.

04.01.2022 Our next meeting is Monday 24th February. 7pm for 7:30pm start. Theme: Childhood memories of the family car. Visitors and Guests are welcome.

03.01.2022 I am so proud of our Camden Toastmaster, Denis Wright, and his amazing progress through the Maguire Program. He is on SBS tonight as a coordinator of the Stutter School program!

02.01.2022 Last night we had an enjoyable meeting on Zoom when we celebrated our 600th meeting. We had 3 fabulous and different speeches. Leonie interviewed past members and presented a wonderful recollection of the last 599 meetings of Camden Toastmasters. Lesley researched and presented a tremendous proposal for a community garden. Heather had us all engrossed with her speech which surprised us when she revealed it as the story of an embryo. The variety of stories at Camden Toastmasters is always engaging. Here is a range of photographs since our charter in 1996...

01.01.2022 Our final meeting for the 2019-2020 will be on Zoom tonight. It will be our changeover meeting. Thank you to President Lesley and her team for keeping things going online while we have been living life differently. Not a dinner tonight as we are saving that up for our 600th meeting which will be later in July.
