22.01.2022 Introducing Michael Stangel, one of our talented performers at Camp4Cancer Geelong - how lucky are we Please read Micheals story MICHAEL STANGEL 2020... Growing up in Geelong Victoria, Australia, Michael began his musical career playing in local bands, at festivals and school events. Michael quickly progressed into more professional groups in his early teens and was earning more money than his teachers from his music by the time he was sixteen. This mix of artist and entrepreneur would become a common theme throughout Michaels career. At the age of nineteen, Michael received his first real opportunity overseas when he signed a deal with a European label based out of Spain. Michael moved to Europe to begin working with his new label; however, after only a few minor successes, Michael decided to return home to focus on his song-writing and production skills. In 2001 Michael teamed up with successful producer and friend, Paul Wiltshire, to work on projects for Major labels Universal and Sony. During this period Michael met ARIA and Grammy award winning producer, David Nicholas who had collaborated with the likes of The Pretenders, INXS, Elton John, Brian Adams and Local icons Cold Chisel and Richard Clapton. Michael and David soon became a writing and production team called Jellyfish. Michael and David would go on to write and produce songs in that period for artists like The Veronicas, Shannon Noll, Dean Geyer and the Androids. In 2005 Michael produced, recorded and mixed an album for Australian Band, Borne. Who rose to Number 14 on the USA Billboard charts with their Album Loss of Signal. Michael became a mainstay writer and producer for Universal, Sony, EMI and Warner Brothers. In 2011 during a local performance, Michael experienced a small seizure, which he thought nothing of at the time. However, it turned out to be much more severe than first thought Michael was told he had a tumour lodged in his heart valve and would need to have emergency surgery to remove it or risk imminent death. 19.01.2022 We regret to advise that due to the recent announcements from the government advising against non-essential gatherings to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Camp4Cancer Geelong has made the decision to postpone our event and come back bigger and stronger next year on the 26th - 28th March 2021. We are disappointed to have to take this step so close to our event but your health is our priority and we feel that we have a duty of care to our community. On thi...s note I would like to firstly thank our amazing C4C committee that has stuck by me the last through months to achieve so much, each one of you have been awesome. The support, donations, sponsorship, volunteers, music artists, market stall holders that had been committed to support our event from local and afar has been so generous and greatly appreciated. 15.01.2022 Hello C4C Friends We finally have another proposed date for Luke to shave his head !!!! all funds raised will be donated to the Andrew Love Cancer Centre, Geelong. September 2019, Luke decided to grow his hair to honor all the people that have suffered and lost their own hair due to cancer. The great head shave for Luke was to take place at our first C4C in March this year which we unfortunately had to cancel due to Covid-19. We thought we could then make this happen o...n the last day of term 1 at school but again this was cancelled as all schools closed for lock down. Fingers crossed we will be taking a shaver to Lukes hair next Thursday 25th June at school along with his class mates to watch and give him much support. Camp4Cancer welcomes all of your special fur babies as long as they are kept on a leash at all times and all poops are picked up and disposed of. My favorite place to take Roxy on a Saturday morning, 8am is to Parkrun that is at the end of Old Base Road from where we will be camping.
