19.01.2022 A tight contest with thousands of votes cast by friends of the Underwater Tour, the winner of the Peoples Choice Award is drum roll....Pierre-Laurent Pablo! B...ig congrats Pierlo! My own challenge is to take a picture I like. I like to see the perfect angle light etc.. and say to myself I couldnt do better. Because if you missed, this moment is gone forever. Tomorrow wont be the same conditions of visibility, position etc. The challenge is to reflect reality and give the best chance to the animal to be well represented. In the case of my winning picture, the Frog Fish was hanging on its sponge throne like the king of the reef. Well the angle was tricky because it was between very fragile black corals and the wall. There is no way to touch or damage anything around me." All images displayed in the online gallery for the Peoples Choice competition passed our stringent Ethical Standards Review. Pierlo wins a bundle prize pack of a beautiful coffee table book "Underwater Australia by Darren Jew, Liottle Urchin reef friendly sunscreen and a Whales Underwater H2O water bottle and an A2 print voucher from Living Image Fine Art Print To see more about the Awards and to check out our speakers events for May 2021, head to www.underwatertour.com.au

10.01.2022 Last Friday, the Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force received reports of three lost divers involved in a chartered diving experience, five nautical miles off... South Head, Sydney. Numerous police vessels and air assets were deployed, and an extensive search commenced. The three divers were eventually located a distance away from the charter vessel. All three were recovered from the water safe and well, with no injuries. A great team effort from all involved.

01.01.2022 Some exciting news ... a pipefish myself and Charlie photographed almost two years ago in Botany Bay was officially named by science yesterday. You can read a...bout Stigmatopora harastii published in a scientific paper at the link below. "Harasti’s Pipefish and the Red Wide-bodied Pipefish are proposed here as the common names." https://zookeys.pensoft.net/article/57160/ See more
