17.01.2022 This past week our teams were on the roof and in the water! Our next lot of Storm and Flood Damage technicians have almost finished their training and will be assessed next month. Last night they were practising their skills on the roof. Late last week our current and future flood techs were undertaking their Swim/Fit for task test at the Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre.

16.01.2022 Hollywood often portrays emergency workers as sitting around drinking coffee while they wait for the next event to occur. Here at Campbelltown SES there may be some coffee drinking but it has to occur in between lots of other things, as we are kept busy. Our teams are training to keep up their skills, our new recruits learning new skills, our admin team keeping our office running smoothly and we are recruiting our next batch of new volunteers. We are making sure that we are physically distancing however still connecting, and our trucks are ready to go if our community needs us.
16.01.2022 With the potential for more unsettled weather, here’s some information that can help you in knowing when to call the SES.

13.01.2022 While there is currently no weather warnings for NSW, there is the possibility of some developing storms at the end of this week. Keep up to date with weather warnings by checking the Bureau of Meteorology website http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/ and stay safe.
13.01.2022 When people think of flooding they usually think rivers, however, flash flooding can be just as dangerous and that is what we can experience here in the Campbelltown LGA in severe weather conditions. A lot of people don't realise that our unit, like many others, has a team of experienced and trained flood technicians who are on call to help wherever they are needed, in the event of a person being trapped by, or washed into, floodwater. Last night our training moved to Macquar...ie Fields Pool as our flood techs shared some of their knowledge with our members, and gave them a taste of some of the skills they might need if they decide to train to be flood techs. And while we may have these highly trained teams, remember never drive through or enter floodwater.
13.01.2022 We have all heard "there's an app for that!" However here's one app that is definitely worth everyone having on their phone, it may just help save someone's life. Using the GPS functionality built into smartphones it can help a Triple Zero (000) caller provide critical location details in an emergency. http://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/
12.01.2022 As part of the NSW SES our core business is flood and storm emergencies. However, there are times when we are invited to provide assistance in other emergency situations. In the 2019 - 2020 bushfires, a number of our members worked behind the scenes. While we weren't fighting fires we undertook a range of tasks including working at call centres, delivering supplies, door knocking, putting up shelter at evacuation points and whatever other tasks were required. It was a privil...ege to be able to serve the community and support our fellow emergency services. In response to their volunteering, those members who participated were awarded a NSW Premiers Bushfire Emergency Citation. Last night a number of them attended the unit to receive their award. Congratulations, great work!
11.01.2022 102 years ago (1918) on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11 month, there was a cease to hostilities of WWl. Today, on the 11th hour of the 11th day, we pause for one minute to remember those who have lost their lives serving their country in wars or armed conflicts. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them Lest we forget #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem #LestWeForget

06.01.2022 With many events being cancelled, we haven't had the chance this year to meet with our community. We love these events because we can share with you valuable information to help keep you safe during floods and storms. One of our important messages is "never enter floodwater".... Did you know as little as 15cm of floodwater can move a small car? Also, do you know what can be in floodwater? While this video is about the Hawkesbury-Nepean valley, there is some great info that can apply to flooding in any area. Remember never enter floodwater, and stay safe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voEl-i_lYeo
04.01.2022 You may not see all of us at our Campbelltown Headquarters on Tuesday nights at the moment, however that doesn’t mean our members haven’t been continuing to work hard behind the scenes. Last weekend our members, along with many other Australians, stood in their driveways at the rising of the sun.... Each week our newer members have been undertaking their training remotely. When on the job we have been making sure to practice physical distancing, and Our members continue to be available to serve our community when needed. Remember if you require emergency assistance for storm or flood damage, please call the NSW SES on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call 000. Stay safe people
03.01.2022 With some possible severe weather expected over the next few days, there are lots of things you can do to prepare.
03.01.2022 Our teams were kept busy from the afternoon until late in the evening yesterday, after Mother Nature hit us with gusty weather. We attended a request for assistance after a number of trees came down across a main road in Campbelltown. It was great to be working alongside units from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force, NSW Ambulance and Campbelltown City Council, NSW.... If you need help in floods & storms, call 132 500 For life-threatening emergencies, call 000.
02.01.2022 There is an old saying, "make hay while the sun shines", meaning that hay should be harvested when the weather is good. Now most of us don't have hay to harvest, however, there is something else that we can do while the sun shines, and that's clear out our gutters safely. With potential rain predicted in the coming days, there is never a better time.
02.01.2022 This Wednesday is WOW Day, Wear Orange Wednesday. Each year on the third Wednesday in May, during National Volunteer Week, we recognise and appreciate our SES volunteers.
