24.01.2022 GAME REPORT: GHOSTS BATS The Bats’ final game for 2020 took place this afternoon at Hilder Reserve, our team up against the Red Sox Devils. The Devils used the first two innings to pile on six runs but that’s where they stopped, the Bats’ pitching and fielding coming into its own across the remainder of the match.... Unfortunately the Ghosts side could only offer three in response, but this was truly one of the team’s best efforts this season - an even better performance than either of their wins so far. GHOSTS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: *Three pitchers were used for today’s game and all accredited themselves well. Matty Farrer backed up his debut last week as the opener, bagging two strike outs in the 1st. *Andrew Glassington followed and put in plenty of strikes through the 2nd and 3rd, also taking a fly which was turned into a double play to 2nd with a strong throw. *Dylan ‘Rocket’ Hillyer then closed in the 4th, taking two strike outs and a throw down to 1st in 12 pitches. *Matty and Matthew Burns picked up a pair of great outfield catches off strong Red Sox hits. *Finally, it was the Coach who led the way with the bat today, going 3/3 and putting the last one through the cones for the side’s only double of the game. GAME RESULT: GHOSTS Bats: [1 1 0 0 1] 3 Camden Red Sox Devils: [3 3 0 0] 6 W #campbelltownghostsbaseballclub #ghostssummer2021 #ghostsbats #gogetemghosts
24.01.2022 (LATE) GAME REPORT: GHOSTS BATS vs GHOST SPARTANS The second local derby of the Saturday Seniors season took place at Woodlands on Nov 21 with our Spartans and Bats sides taking each other on. After a tight first two innings which saw both teams kept to minimum runs, the Bats found their feet and started swinging, punching in five in the 3rd to carry them through the game.... The Spartans kept going at it, mounting a solid charge in the 5th to try and get on top, however they fell just short despite the big effort. Both the Bats and Spartans would like to thank Phil Glassington and Nick Rose for taking on the umpiring duties for this stand-alone game, allowing all players from both sides to stay on the field. GHOSTS NIGHT RIDERS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: *Once again Dylan 'Rocket' Hillyer's pitching proved the difference, with 9 strikeouts collected over the Bats' five defensive digs. *Andrew Glassington again proved versatile with two solid tag outs at the home plate as Catcher, and a double with the bat. *Chris Fox came up with the Bats' first RBI of the game through a tonk to LF. He also later grabbed a difficult fly to RF. *Matt Burns gloved a tricky fly at CF on the run. *Hayden Ferguson and David Weblin both contributed at crucial moments with the bat, Dave raking in three hits for the game. GHOSTS SPARTANS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS *Dan Alexander showed he's one of the fastest runners in the comp, scoring an outstanding in-the-park homer off a shot to CF. *Darren Neilsen kept the Bats' hitters frustrated through the first two digs with some cluey pitching. *The Coach says the Spartans' batting efforts throughout this game were much improved on the week before. GAME RESULT: GHOSTS Bats: [1 2 5 3] 11 W GHOSTS Spartans: [1 0 1 1 4] 7 #campbelltownghostsbaseballclub #ghostssummer2021 #ghostsbats #ghostsspartans #gogetemghosts
23.01.2022 In an update from Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, it was announced that as at Saturday 26 September, interregional community sporting competitions were ab...le to recommence without restricting activities to regions or zones. The advice provided in August regarding limiting spectators to one parent per child, and inter-region sport and recreation activities have been removed. Community sports organisations and participants should continue to avoid shared travel arrangements such as car-pooling, along with minimising social gatherings before and after the event. Community sport organisations may choose to still limit spectator numbers at matches, subject to the protocols within their COVID-19 Safety Plans and based on factors such as the size of their venue, match scheduling or hiring requirements placed on them by venue operators. 21.01.2022 GAME REPORT: GHOSTS NIGHT RIDERS A balmy Friday evening (27 Nov) saw our 'oldies' welcome the Moorebank Royals to Woodlands for the first time this season, the Night Riders keen to add to their first win from the week before. Playing with only eight the Ghosts side struggled to contain the big hitting Royals, although came up with some flashes of brilliance in the field as the game wore on.... In the end, the Night Riders' batting deserted them, allowing Moorebank to make a clean getaway after five digs. Despite the one-sided scoreline, the game was played with great spirit - thanks from the Night Riders to the Royals for this. Both sides would also like to thank the two umpires from the Red Sox Rippers who covered the match despite their game not being played. GHOSTS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: *Phil Glassington had to lead the pitching effort for this game and toiled well against the strong batting Moorebank. *Mick McKnight was kept busy for the whole game, chasing a lot of fly balls around LF before putting the Catcher's gear on for the rest of the match. *Mark Linden has found his place on the diamond at 3rd, stopping virtually everything that comes near him and shooting solid throws across to 1st with regularity. *The Night Riders welcomed Ross Miles for his first game, with Ross promptly taking an RBI off his first hit to RF. *The Coach actually did alright for once, stepping onto the mound for two digs and adding a second strikeout to the book for the season. He also made a muffed fly into a classy looking throwdown to Dave Weblin at 1st! GAME RESULT: GHOSTS Night Riders: [1 2 0 0 0] 3 Moorebank Royals: [5 2 5 4 0] 16 W #campbelltownghostsbaseballclub #ghostssummer2021 ##ghostsnightriders #gogetemghosts

19.01.2022 GAME REPORT: GHOSTS BATS vs GHOSTS SPARTANS Ahead of the presentation last Saturday (7 Nov), our two 'Pool B' sides in the Saturday Seniors competition, the experienced Spartans and the newer Bats, did battle on home turf. The game started very competitively with only one run scored during the first two digs. The Spartans then found a couple with some big hitting, only for the Bats to steadily put together four in response.... With the Spartans levelling up at the top of the 4th, it was left to the Bats to work the winning run around the diamond, going one up into the 5th which the Spartans were not able to better. As has been the tradition between the two teams in recent times, although both were gunning for the win, the game was played in a great and cooperative spirit worthy of a Ghosts derby. Both teams would like to thank the Centaurs' Jamie Targett and Liam Anderson for taking on the umpiring duties. GHOSTS BATS HIGHLIGHTS: *Dylan 'Rocket' Hillyer gave a pitching masterclass, taking 11 of the Bats' 15 outs with strikeouts, and he also had a hand in three of the other four. *Plenty of run downs and 'caught stealings' for the Bats involving Lachlan Halfpenny, Chris Fox, Andrew Glassington and the Coach. *The Bats' biggest hit of the game came from Glasso with a double, while Hayden Ferguson had the honour of scoring the winning run off a wild pitch. GHOSTS SPARTANS HIGHLIGHTS: *Huge hitting from Luke Bridge with two doubles and a triple, and Ray Soo with a triple. *Ben Ashley and Dan Alexander kept busy with great throw downs across the diamond from SS to 1st. *Tim Willard kept the Bats' hitters guessing from the mound through the early digs. GAME RESULT: GHOSTS Spartans: [0 0 2 3 0] 5 GHOSTS Bats: [1 0 4 1] 6 W #campbelltownghostsbaseballclub #ghostssummer2021 #ghostsspartans #ghostsbats #gogetemghosts

13.01.2022 MANDATORY COVIDSAFE SIGN-IN AT WOODLANDS... One of the reasons we are able to begin preparing for the 2020-21 Summer season is because both our Club and the Macarthur Baseball League have approved COVIDSafe plans in place. As part of these plans, from now until further notice, ALL people entering Woodlands MUST check in to the ground using the QR code sign-in app (similar to pubs and restaurants).... A total of 14 posters with the QR code have been put up around our home ground. All you have to do is use the camera function on your smart device to scan the code - you'll be taken to a form where you can fill in your details. PLEASE NOTE THIS REQUIREMENT APPLIES TO EVERYBODY REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU ARE, WHICH CLUB YOU BELONG TO, OR WHY YOU ARE AT WOODLANDS. This means you MUST sign-in for games, for training - even if you're just visiting. There are NO exceptions. All Club Executive Members will have access to a live registry showing the details of those who have signed into the grounds. If you have not: *You'll politely be reminded to do so. *If you fail to do so promptly, you'll be asked to immediately leave the grounds. *If you fail to leave when asked, authorities will be called. You will also be reported to the MBL. We make no apologies for the harshness of this procedure. Simply, if YOU don't follow the rules, Woodlands can and probably will be shut down to ALL baseball for an unknown period. As of September 24th, NSW Health lifted the restriction on only allowing one parent at games. More than one parent may be present at Junior games, however parents MUST remain socially distant from each other. Please help us and your Club by adhering to these requirements until further notice. We've waited this long to get back on the diamonds - let's not risk the chance of losing another season. Thank you! - Campbelltown Ghosts Executive Committee #CampbelltownGhostsBaseballClub #ghostssummer2021 #followtherules #covidsafe #scanintoswing #gogetemghosts

07.01.2022 (LATE) GAME REPORT: GHOSTS NIGHT RIDERS Our Friday night squad welcomed our neighbours, the Caspers Barbarians, to Woodlands for a battle over the 'Team Spirit Trophy' on 20 Nov. The match started very competitively as both teams worked to lock the other down, only two runs apiece being scored in the first three innings.... A pitching change by the Caspers in the 4th saw the Night Riders start to stretch their batting legs, eventually running away with the game (but not the trophy!) after a rare five innings completed. The Night Riders would like to thank the Barbarians for the excellent tone of the match. While it was clear both sides were trying their best to win, fun and friendship were clearly on display. GHOSTS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: *The Glassington brothers, Phil and Andrew, took on pitching duties and were once again on fire. Phil took a strikeout but was in the zone constantly throughout his stint, easily his best performance on the mound for a while. *Andrew meantime added another four strikeouts, a massive catch at LF, and a crucial double in the 4th to his great season so far. *Dave Weblin found himself in the thick of the action at 1st, with two 'unassisteds' which really made him move, cleaning up three fast throwdowns, and being at the end of the Night Riders' first double play of the season off a fly to 2nd. *Although playing as a Barbarian this game, huge shout out to Ghosts' own Luke Bridge who picked up an absolutely hammered line drive down the 3rd base line with one of the best catches you'll ever see. GAME RESULT: GHOSTS Night Riders: [0 0 2 3 4] 9 W Caspers Barbarians: [1 1 0 0 1] 3 #campbelltownghostsbaseballclub #ghostssummer2021 ##ghostsnightriders #gogetemghosts
