Check the webpage (www.cgs.asn.au) or this Facebook page for updates. "Wash your hands, miniatures*, dice, board games and opponents where safe/necessary." ... * Only if miniatures suitably varnished.

20.01.2022 Cancon 2022 Emails to traders who attended Cancon 2020 will be going out this weekend. Traders who attended 2020 will have until the end of June to rebook their space (Or make changes). On the 1st of July, any un-booked space will be available for any new traders.... TOs who ran an event at 2020 will also be emailed in the next week (Once the submission form is sorted) and offered the chance to run an event at Cancon 2022. Cancon 2022 will be a Saturday (22nd) - Sunday (23rd) and Monday (24th January) event. The Holiday is the following Wednesday though. We will be running it in the hope that everything will be "normal", but be prepared for some changes to previous events being required. (For example, Face masks and/or hand sanitiser may be requested for general safety purposes.) International travellers may have some restrictions, depending on current government requirements. Stay tuned.

20.01.2022 Wintercon News Due to the Covid-19 impacts on the club finances, we have just enough reserves to set up one convention. We have made the decision to make this convention Cancon 2022... While Wintercon has covered its costs previously, we are unable to take the risk on it loosing money this year and jeopardising the existence of the club and our ability to set up Cancon 2022. With the roll out of vaccines, we hope that Cancon 2022 and then Wintercon 2022 will be able to be run as normal.

(https://thegamescapital.com.au/)... Cards can be purchased at the CGS Website Membership page (See the green link on the right). https://cgs.asn.au/membership/ or at the club on Thursday nights.

17.01.2022 Hall set up, waiting for traders and event organisers to turn up.

17.01.2022 Wintercon will be postponed until 2021 Due to the Covid-19 impacts, we have made the decision to cancel Wintercon 2020. We are still planning to run Cancon 2021 though, and Wintercon 2021.... Stay safe, wash hands, wash miniatures, stay home.

16.01.2022 G-day, The Canberra Games Society Convention team and the club committee have discussed the current Covid-19 situation, and have come to the sad conclusion, that Cancon 2021 is unable to be run in a manner to make it a viable or safe event. The current 1 person per 4 square meters would reduce our capacity for players in each hall, by at least half. Our traders would be restricted in numbers of staff and customers allowed in their stands, our games library is unable to sani...tise board games between users, and even card games would only be able to run with 50% participation. There is also the probability the canteen would not be allowed to operate. One other issue is our main hall (Budawang) is currently the main ACT Covid-19 mobile (Drive through) testing centre. This removes the hall, the link building and the main carpark from our access. The organising committee will meet again in October, but this will be to consider an ACT only, Wintercon style event for the weekend before Australia day. This will only happen if there are no restrictions of any kind, in place, or likely to occur. One a happy note We will be offering Cancon 2021 T-shirt and Polo shirts. These will be available online, and will be made to order, so no spares. The price will include postage as applicable. Keep any eye on the CGS page for T-shirt and Polo Shirt details. They will be available until late December 2020. and will be posted on mid to late January.

15.01.2022 Games Capital News: We will be running a special charity board game event on the 26th of January of this year to celebrate what would have been the Cancon weekend! All proceeds we make from the event itself will be given to Lifeline Canberra and people can also donate outside of the event if they can't make it. We will also be doing a give away of a game every hour to someone, a name out of a jar is what we're planning at the moment! So that will be a fun extra to the event. ... https://www.facebook.com/events/757486658200729/?active_tab=about

15.01.2022 Repeating this here due to confusion as to if it showed up at the other page... The club will be closed Christmas eve, but open New year's eve for the last games of 2020. Also, we will be using the "Check in CBR" app to assist with sign in on Thursday nights until further notice. ... Paper sheets will still be there, but this does save time etc. Grab it from the various app stores etc.

15.01.2022 The post Cancon survey is ready for submissions. This survey helps us to find out what you played, how you found out about us, where you went, what we did well, and what could be improved. It is not just an opportunity to praise us, you also get to let us know what went wrong, and (importantly) how you would fix it.... Click here for the survey: (Survey Monkey form) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PFF-Cancon-2020

14.01.2022 Club meetings will remain paused until we are advised by the ACT government that it is safe to start up again.

05.01.2022 Quick reminder: This account does NOT have a messanger account, so sending messages to it is pointless. Now if only Farcebook would stop showing "You have messages" notices, even though I have turned the dratted program off... Also, AGM next week. Turn up to see what it is we do in the shadows....*... *Obviously not painting.. it is too dark.

04.01.2022 Traders who would like to attend Cancon 2020, and have not rebooked already, should email me at [email protected]. Please read the Trade Stand Guide. (Dropbox link) https://www.dropbox.com//Trade%20Stand%20Guide%202018-2019 For 2020, 1x4m slots are $135.00.... The map is being sorted out in the next day or so and will be listed by the weekend. (There are a few complicated moves this year. The Cancon Tetris game begins.) Traders who did not respond to requests to re-book their space, have lost the chance.
