13.01.2022 Reopening the local economy should be based on evidence, not personal preferences. As we try to revive the economy after the COVID-19 shutdown, now is not the time for Mr. Barr to make moral judgments on which sectors should reopen. This is a decision that has a monumental effect on a large number of employees as well as small business owners and of course community clubs. Mark Parton MLA

09.01.2022 We would like to thank the many Club members who have been contacting us about when and how our Clubs in the ACT will be reopening but this is going to take a little longer. If you have concerns or are frustrated with the pace of change in the ACT, when compared with our neighbour NSW, it is best for you to engage directly with the ACT Government. We cannot affect change without you. Please call or email the Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, or your local MLA. Alternatively, you can also engage with the Opposition Leader Alistair Coe, who has publicly called for the ACT to keep pace with NSW.

07.01.2022 BREAKING: When it rains it pours! The major parties have all announced water policy. Clubs are amongst the hardest hit by the ACT's water charges. The ACT has some of the highest water charges in the country and unlike many other jurisdictions we do not have a commercial or community facility rate for potable water. Here in the ACT we even bill for dam water, which is unique and we charge many times what other states do for our non-potable water. ... In 2016, the Labor Government undertook to initiate a review of water rates for clubs but this promised inquiry never happened. Water rates are hurting our clubs, long before COVID and most acutely during our last hot summer. We welcome the announcements and look forward to a reviews delivery in the coming 12 months, in addition to other announced measures.

05.01.2022 Painful losses as ACT virus plan falls out of step THE fact that the ACT is a stand-alone territory has, thankfully, helped protect our community during the COVID pandemic. But as restrictions are lifted across the country, the ACT government cannot afford to forget that Canberra is an island within NSW.
