04.01.2022 Come and join CDTs latest performance opportunity: In the Spirit is a response to the memory of Marion Mahony Griffin and her contribution to the design of Canberra. Cost: Hot News! FREE thanks to the support of Ausdance ACT! Inspired by Marions irrepressible nature and indomitable spirit, the work explores themes of relationships: between nature and the built environment; the woman and her more famous husband; ideals for a better world sacrificed in grabs for power. In ...the Spirit is centred on and around Fiona Hootons straw Ziggurat. Dancers depart the safety of the ground to clamber up the rutted surfaces of the Ziggurat toward the prize of reaching the pinnacle. The performance will comprise of set movement material and improvisation scores. Rehearsals: Thursdays - for those who would prefer to stay on the solid ground and maybe venture to the first level of the Ziggurat In the studio: 12.30-2.00pm on 17th, 24th September & 1st, 8th October. These will be led by Philip Piggin On site: 1.00-2.30pm on 15th, 22nd October Saturdays - for those willing to climb onto the 2nd and 3rd levels of the Ziggurat In the studio: 3.00-4.30pm on 12th, 19th, 26th September & 3rd October. 02.01.2022 GOLD 10 year anniversary A Decade of Disgraceful Dance 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of GOLD, the company of over 55 years CDT dancers. There are plans afoot to celebrate with a year-long program of activities, including performances of favourites from our repertoire, newly commissioned works, and a retrospective exhibition of photos and videos.... Of course this all takes money. We are contemplating trying to raise some funds for these GOLD anniversary projects through selling specially labelled wine. To help us gauge interest in this possible fundraiser, we would love it if you could answer a few simple questions on our survey monkey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3FMT5J3 .
