24.01.2022 Some good tips to overcome any fears you have out in the trails.
23.01.2022 Posted @withrepost @bicyclensw For the first time in Australia, ACT Police will enforce safe passing of people riding bikes by motor vehicles using under-cover police riding bikes. We're holding out for a hero in NSW . 23.01.2022 Our final take on the transport crisis in this country. It’s about time the media and it’s journalists dig a bit deeper into their research and look for examples of other ways to approach this chronic problem in our cities. There are plenty of examples in other parts of the world where governments and it’s constituents have pushed for alternatives. Proper bicycle infrastructure works. Period. Sadly there is not as much money in taxing the motor industry and easy votes with fa...lse promises are the mainstay of modern day transport politics. Here again is another article that barely mentions bikes or bike infrastructure. It’s a joke. The only good side is that there are plenty of ways as individuals you can make a difference. Using a bike as your primary form of transport is a monumental civil act that not only makes you feel good but saves you $. Win win. The more people that ride the more those in power are forced to cater for the critical mass. Brisbane City Council has plans to build five new green bridges across the city to reduce congestion, at a cost of more than half a billion dollars. The list includes a pedestrian and cycle bridge at Kangaroo Point to the CBD and two West End bridges one to Toowong and another to St Lucia for pedestrians, cyclists and buses. Construction would take up to 10 years, with council paying at least two thirds towards the project. It needs the rest of the money to come from State and Federal governments, and once again no deal has been reached. YES ANOTHER MISSED OPPORTUNITY. Ten year’s to build. Come on! They can build a modern freeway in less than a third of the time.
23.01.2022 Don’t worry Canberra, we have a solution. An ebike! Data from the annual Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey found workers spent an average of 4.5 hours a week commuting, a rise of 23 per cent since 2002. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have the longest average daily commuting times 65 minutes or more while the ACT experienced the biggest surge, blowing out by 65 per cent.
23.01.2022 Hope they had some powder. Ouch. They look like ants. Sometimes it’s good to be reminded of our smallness in the scheme of things. Posted @withrepost @bicyclingmag So much carnage at the #MountainofHell :@thomascardinal @mucoff
21.01.2022 MAYDENA BIKE PARK IS A GRAVITY-FOCUSED MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK IN TASMANIA’S DERWENT VALLEY DESIGNED AND BUILT BY RENOWNED TRAIL COMPANY, DIRT ART, THE WORLD-CLASS TRAILS OFFER SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, FROM FAMILIES THROUGH TO ELITE RIDERS. ALTHOUGH FAMILIES MIGHT STRUGGLE WITH THE VERY STEEP GRADIENTS... HOW DOES AN EBIKE FIT INTO A PLACE LIKE MAYDENA?

20.01.2022 A great opportunity for you to have your say about Mountain Biking in Canberra. Submissions close in November so get cracking.
20.01.2022 The congestion crisis has prompted warnings that parts of the state will be in total gridlock in decades to come without significant investment in new infrastructure and a clear plan for the future. You can’t fit more cars in our cities roads without gridlock. It’s basic maths. Wider freeways only fill up. It’s simple. Take the example of forward thinking cities like London, New York or Copenhagen and invest in cycle infrastructure. Build it and they will come! An investme...nt that rewards us all. The survey found workers now spend on average 4.5 hours a week getting to and from work a rise of 23 per cent since 2002. It’s like the slow death of the frog in boiling water. Why do we accept this terrible waste of time and one that pumps carbon filth into our local streets? Data from the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) shows Brisbane households spend $19,844 a year on transport above the national average of $18,277. Compare that to the initial outlay and then super low running costs of a bike or ebike and it’s a no brainer. Data released by the department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and analysed by motoring lobby group RACQ showed that in June 2019, Sandgate Road at Clayfield was Brisbane's slowest spot during the morning commute, at 15 kph. Well get to work on an ebike and it’s not only cheaper but quicker! HELLO SOLUTION. Ms Miller is one of those who doesn't see the benefit in leaving her car at home. "(Given) where I live and where I work, it just wouldn't be doable in a realistic timeframe," she said. "I'd have to get trains, or trains and buses, or multiple buses to get to and from work. "It's just not something that I can do and be able to leave home at somewhat of a reasonable hour and get home at a reasonable hour for the kids." Yes public transport is not always the best alternative and years of paltry funding has left it stagnant just like the general use of it. Again the answer can be found in the humble bicycle and new kid off the block, the electric bicycle. It’s a freedom machine unlike the car which is a time and money trap. You want to do the kids drop off too? Easy an electric cargo bike sorts that. There are alternatives right now for the taking. Be on the right side of history, make a positive contribution and use a bicycle for transport. You’ll feel better for it. So will our cities.
19.01.2022 So many good excuses.

15.01.2022 Some late nights ahead..
15.01.2022 More trails to be built. With so many Canberrians heading down to Batemans Bay for their holidays, this is brilliant news.
14.01.2022 A brilliant idea. It Gets alternatives like bikes into the public consciousness. Works elsewhere so no reason it can’t work in Canberra and other cities around Australia.
13.01.2022 A very well written article that hits it straight on the head.
11.01.2022 So many food reasons. @ohmcycles As a moderate exercise and a great way to get outdoors, e-biking is awesome for your mental health! - #bikelife #electricbikes #ebikes #summerbike #healthyliving #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #bikeeveryday
11.01.2022 If only our politicians had the same ideas.

10.01.2022 Daniel came all the way from CAnberra to collect his new two wheel electric hauler. The Bakfiets cargo bike with a Shimano middrive motor and electronic automatic shifting. A dream ride even with the weight of a whole family on board. And the best thing for Daniel is he can service the bike at Canberra Electric Bikes - our Canberra shop. Enjoy! #bakfiets #electriccargo #cargobike #dutchcargobike
09.01.2022 Doh! Posted @withrepost @globalmountainbikenetwork Ahhh... a fellow 'grounded front flip' enthusiast . Coaches Comment - Anything that is a bigger drop than the size of your front wheel is 100% a drop... not a roll! 08.01.2022 Some more highlights of our very smoky ride in Jindabyne on the Mill Creek trails. The main trail that runs from one end to the next has been funded and built to a great standard. Great flow and a joy to ride highly recommended. Let’s hope the bushfires don’t get into the area.
08.01.2022 A promising new way to look at our vast supplies of lithium. Sending it overseas and buying it back at inflated prices is a wasted opportunity. Let’s hope there are incentives for companies to produce ebike batteries also. #canberraelectricbikes #lithiumbattery #ev
07.01.2022 Cheeky leaf blower rider. Now that is cheating. #Repost @mtb_ardency with @make_repost It doesn't matter what bike you ride!

05.01.2022 A cool little ABC app for the day. Carbon Counter See how much CO2 you could save with just one change to your lifestyle! If you want to do something about climate change but aren’t sure where to start, the ABC Science Carbon Counter can help you identify simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint and see how much CO2 you would save.
05.01.2022 Lets get something like this happening in the Alpine region of OZ!
05.01.2022 The verdict is out. Our customers use their bikes to go a lot further a lot more often, it’s really very simple. They also get more are aerobic exercise they have ever had in their lives before. Great to see mainstream media passing on that message also.
04.01.2022 We think ebikes are for anyone but this makes it clear it’s as much for experienced hard Mtb riders also.
04.01.2022 Don’t wait for Australians politicians to get their policies in action, you can make a difference every day by choosing a clean form of transport. Our transport choices are one of the most significant contributors to our personal emissions. If you care about the future of our amazing planet then get out of your car and onto two wheels. Electric or non electric its a real change today not tomorrow or after the next election cycle. If you don’t take our word for it perhaps this old bloke will convince you. "Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale. Our greatest threat in thousands of years. Climate change." Sir David Attenborough.
04.01.2022 A far better view of the future than what we usually get from dystopian cinema. Masterful.
03.01.2022 Another happy local out the door with her new Velectrix Folding ebike with a nice low step through frame design for easy hoping on and off. With three speed hub gears at the back this folding bike is super easy to take with you on adventures and a joy to rode. Enjoy! #canberraelectricbikes #canberraebikes #velectrix #velectrixelectric #electricbike #ebike # #electriccommuter
03.01.2022 Exercise is 'one of the most powerful weapons' we have against cancer, experts say. This is where an e-bike comes in. Replace all your current car trips and public transport with an e-bike and you’ve ticked the big old box of exercise. Exercise that is practical and fun. Win win.
03.01.2022 Regina and Scott collecting their brand spanning new Vallkree cafe racer ebikes. These are seriously fun and comfortable to ride. The only downside - the constant attention it gets and questions that random strangers want to ask you. But it’s a small price to pay for the joy of going Electric. #canberraelectricbikes #canberraebikes #electricbike #ebike #vallkree #vallkreeelectric #boardtracker
02.01.2022 Talk about bad value for money. @bicyclensw Did you know that 1km of road tunnel can buy over 300km of bikeway? . . Based on Queensland data from 2011 .... . . #BicycleNSW #BikeAdvocacy #WeRideNSW #BikeNSW #CycleNSW #RideWithU See more
02.01.2022 We rode around the town when we couldn't get into Thredbo MTB Resort due to the intense bush fires of NYE 2020. While not as advanced and steep as Thredbo the trails around the lake were a blast to ride. We set off in hazy conditions that looked a lot like early morning fog but in fact was late afternoon. It wasn't long before a massive smoke monster rolled into town from the West and blanketed us in thick acrid smoke. Lucky we had googles on but breathing was tough, we may ...as well have been riding high altitude trails. It's hopefully not a sign of Summers ahead for Australian mountain biking. Climate change is affecting the entire country in so many ways, let's hope that Governments and citizens can make real changes that limit how many degrees our average temperatures get to. Otherwise, this post apocalyptic landscape will be the new norm. See more
