21.01.2022 Summer in the capital turned on beautiful conditions for the Ice Dragons’ return to Lake Burley Griffin for the second half of the 2020-21 season. Bright sunshine and smooth waters were the backdrop for a 7.9-kilometre paddle to the West Basin. In preparation for the DBACT regatta on Saturday 16 January 2021, the session involved a series of 3-minute runs interspersed with ‘big 20s’, finishing off with a 200-metre race. 21.01.2022 Do we have any past Ice Dragons dusting off their paddle and wishing to join us for the regatta and/Christmas party?

20.01.2022 The Ice Dragons are overjoyed to welcome so many new paddlers to our club this season. With 500-metre regatta this weekend, a distance that will test us, the training session focussed on paddling technique. We practiced drills designed to ensure the first movement is down & the paddle blade is fully buried in the water before driving, locking shoulders to maximise power, and fast returns. The session also included race starts and some 200-metre racing. Summer-like conditions ...continued as two crews paddle a shorter 5.2 kilometres due to technique work. DBACT regatta 3 on Saturday 28 November 2020 and it’s going to be hot! The Ice Dragons are a diverse club who welcomes paddlers new and old, and focuses on all age categories: youth, premiers and masters. New paddlers are welcome to attend any of our training sessions, we train Mondays & Wednesdays 5.45pm warmup, 6.00pm on the water, and Saturdays 8.30am warmup, 8.45am on water (no training Saturday 28 November 2020 due to DBACT regatta 3 at Grevillea Park). All equipment provided, first 3 sessions free. Follow us on Facebook for more information or visit our website www.icedragons.com.au

19.01.2022 As ACDC PWRUP for a new album the Ice Dragons powered up the lights on Lake Burley Griffin for a 7 kilometre training session. A break in the rain provided wonderfully calm conditions on the lake for dragon boating. A crew took a boat to the East Basin past the Kings Avenue Bridge focussing on using the resistance of the water to kick off the back of the stroke to set up for a strong catch and drive. Some yin & yang, and a 200 metre and 500 metre race filled out the sessi...on. Weather is looking awesome for the Ice Dragons Come & Try Day following training on Saturday 3 October ... come down to Commonwealth Place to meet some of the club members, learn about dragon boating and get out on the water. Free sausage sizzle, and lollies & chocolates while they last. All equipment provided, first three sessions free! Training from 9.45am at Lotus Bay, Come & Try Day 11.00am to 1.00pm at Commonwealth Place
