24.01.2022 We set a team goal earlier this year & guess what; we achieved it! Not just once, but consecutively for the past 8 weeks! We are so proud of our collective team efforts towards our clinic goal so we decided to have a big celebration! Here are some snaps from our night out at kingpin! The whole team was there but as per always the girls were the only ones to take any photos

24.01.2022 A fun fact for everyone on this cloudy Monday morning! Did you know that humans & giraffes each have the same amount of cervical vertebrae - 7! But, we have such different sized necks compared to one another so how can this be? Well the answer to that is the height of the vertebrae themselves! In a giraffe, each vertebrae can be up to 25cm in height compared to us humans whose vertebrae are generally between 1.5cm-2.4cm each! ... Another fun fact about giraffes; They may eat a lot of food, but they don't' actually drink much water. This is due to their water intake coming primarily from within the leafy meals they eat & therefore only needing direct water every few days!

20.01.2022 Who remembers this iconic episode of the Simpsons? Theres some hilarious jokes in this & also a few references to conditions we do commonly see in the clinic such as sciatica, however, we definitely dont adjust using a bin - nor should you! The Simpsons may have accurately predicted some societal things, but the opening of home clinics using a bin as their treatment will never be one! ... 15.01.2022 Whats causing my muscle weakness? At Canberra Spine Centre, we routinely screen a variety of muscles across the body as part of our overall assessments. It can be surprising and disconcerting for a patient to see muscles of one arm or leg noticeably weaker than those of the other. 15.01.2022 Hands up if you agree With many of us returning to the gym this week our bodies may be feeling more aches, strain & pain than usual. Recovery is an important part of training and something that we need to remember to include within our programs. Incoroporating massage therapy into your training & recovery program provides both your body and your results with many benefits! How you're wondering? Well, let us explain: ... Detoxification: Massage encourages the body to eliminate toxins & lactic acid which are produced during heavy and/or intense workouts. Muscular Tissue Support: During training your body will endure high amounts of strain on its muscles. For this tissue to grow, muscle fibers must first break down for the body to then build stronger & bigger muscle tissue. For this to be achieved muscle tissue will require more nutrients and oxygen, which massage can assist in delivering. Increased Muscle Performance: When muscles are hypertonic (tight) they are unable to perform at their peak ability. The tightening that is experienced in these areas leads to a lack of blood supply which in turn affects performance. Massage can assist in dissolving this tightness which allows the muscle fibers to perform at their best. Massage also aids in improving blood flow as well as flushing muscle tissue with the oxygen & nutrition needed to enhance performance. Reduction in training breaks: We've all experienced the dreaded DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and the pause or reduction in training that can come as a result. Massage is known to help minimise the effects of DOMS, and can assist in decreasing the discomfort felt during these periods. This reduction in discomfort often sees people training more often and/or for longer periods. Improved Sleep: While your concious hard work is done in the gym or your training location, it is during your sleep that your tissue is reparing and your muscle is being built. Due to this, sleep is an important part of your recovery process and should be placed as a priority. Massage aids your sleep time & quality through reducing the tension in your muscles. This reduction of pain & discomfort should promote a deeper and more restful sleep. Each of these will make a huge difference to your training & recovery so what are you waiting for? Give us a call now to make a booking for either Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning of next week! Limited spots remaining! 6257 9400!

15.01.2022 We all know someone that tries to carry everything all at once, or maybe it's yourself that's guilty! (Beck - we're not looking at you) Although it seems like a small thing and that going back and forth is tiresome, making multiple trips to the car can be important in easing the strain on your body and spine! It's important to remember when carrying heavy loads to keep the object/s as close to your body as you can, to bend at the knees to lessen the strain on your back, to ...use both hands and even the load where possible, and finally to rise/stand slowly! For more useful tips, visit www.workingfromhome.org.au or ask your Chiropractor within your next appointment! Feel free to tag a buddy that needs this reminder too!
