This went down reasonably well with 33 players taking part, so I will try it once a month (on the last Saturday)

21.01.2022 ACT Rapidplay Championship 2020 - Fred Litchfield, FM Michael Kethro 6/7, CM Hui Li 5.5. Harry Johnson, Glenn Ingham 5 U/1800. Jack Zhuang 4.5 U/1400. Joshua Lee, Lachlan Ho 4.5 Best Junior 44 players to set a new record for the ACT Rapidplay. A group of players travelled up from Wollongong to take part! With such a large field, the final result wasn't clear until the last round had been completed.

Malik Amer, Max Albert 4 BOBH Only 12 players today as some regulars decided to err on the side of caution. However each round saw a few upsets, resulting in a surprise winner!

Good to see familiar ( and excited ) faces again. Thanks to King O'Malley's for providing hand sanitizer etc, and for giving us the space to hold the tournament. With restrictions being eased further on Friday, we will be able to accept more entries next week.

08.01.2022 Street Chess will be running tomorrow at King O'Malley's from 11am. With the change in restrictions, I am accepting more than 16 entries, and you can turn up without registering. We will be supplying gloves and hand sanitiser, I expect players to use their common sense regarding social distancing. Looking forward to see you there.

08.01.2022 Good news everybody! Street Chess is back. This Saturday (13 June 2020) Street Chess is returning to King O'Malley's. To comply with current regulations the tournament will be restricted to 16 players. If you wish to play, please contact me at [email protected] Pre-registration is mandatory for now, and if you do request a spot, you will be expected to turn up. In the case of more than 16 players registering preference will be given to players who supported the online Street Chess tournaments. (NB There will be exceptions for players who could not play for technical reasons). For the first week there will not be any prizes (or entry fee). You will however need to order food at some stage, to comply with the dining regulations.

Good news is that our regular venue King O'Malley's has reopened, but we are still waiting to know what regulations are in effect before we can think about returning to face to face play.

Fred Litchfield's perfect score was very impressive, especially as he had to face a trio of strong Queensland juniors in successive rounds.
