25.01.2022 An email from Kristian Aquilina - Holden Chairman and Managing Director Dear Holden Family Today is the toughest of days for us. ... We will be winding down Holden sales, design and engineering operations in Australia and New Zealand and retiring our much-loved Holden brand after a 160-year history. We are devastated. We love Holden. We know you will all hurting after this news too. This is not the outcome we were working towards, but it is one we must accept. General Motors and Holden tried everything to keep things rolling, but we just could not make it work. The Holden leadership team has worked hard to turn around the business for a number of years. More recently, we developed a comprehensive plan for substantial investment in our brand, our products, the customer experience and more to make Holden successful again. A brand like Holden deserves investment in a plan to flourish not just limp along not after it was the brand that led the way for so many years. The brand that won so many Bathurst races and just about everything else there was to win including round Australia rallies, racing championships and car of the year awards. GM leadership considered our plan in depth. We all agonized over this decision. Regrettably, the turnaround plan we submitted could not generate the return on investment of other projects GM has before it. This decision is in no way a reflection of the expertise and commitment of the Holden family, those who love their Holdens like a family member. The Holden brand and its memorable cars have inspired a rich car club movement. You have been fervent guardians of the Holden legacy and will continue to be. We may be sadly winding down a business, but no one can never take away the icon. A truly Australian icon. On behalf of GM and Holden, I thank you for your unwavering passion for our vehicles, our company and our brand. We ask that you join us in giving Holden the dignified farewell that it deserves. 25.01.2022 Torana Nationals Update Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Torana Nationals has been cancelled for 2020. All paid entrants have been notified via email and will be refunded in full ASAP. At this stage we are planning to host a social event over the same dates 13-15 November (pending any COVID-19 restrictions) as a way for the Torana community to still get together in a social setting and catch up with friends. We are in the early stages of this planning, but it will... be a free event, where we hope to still utilise the Friday night Meet and Greet at the Alpha Hotel, as well as a cruise on the Saturday, and a possible Sunday activity. This event will be totally dependent on any ACT and National restrictions that may be applicable at the time, but we will be sure to keep everyone up to date as this plan takes shape. The Canberra Torana Club apologise to all those that are inconvenienced and we genuinely hope we can still put together an activity where you can bring your car from wherever you are in the country and share in what we hope is still going to be a fun and social weekend. We thank you for your understanding and hope we are all able to get together under normal circumstances again soon. Please stay safe, look after yourself and your family, and long live the mighty Torana.

09.01.2022 Torana Nationals subsequent cancellation: We regret to inform that the event planned to be held over the Torana Nationals weekend (13-15 Nov) will unfortunately not be going ahead. We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may cause anyone; however, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the amount of organisation and ambiguity over the ability hold an event complying with the COVID-safe regulations, and the unknown potential numbers, we have had to cancel the planned event e...ntirely. We very much look forward to the future and hope to be able to host Torana Nationals next time around, when public events like this are once again part of normal everyday life. As a club, we welcome any potential opportunities for those who may wish to organise a small social informal event, which can comply with the current restrictions and allow us all to enjoy our Toranas. Again, we apologise for any negative impact this may cause, and look forward to seeing you all under much better circumstances.
