22.01.2022 RARE MINKE WHALE ENCOUNTER OFF CAIRNS A group of divers and snorkellers on Passions of Paradise got to hang out with two curious dwarf minke whales yesterda...y (Sunday) at Milln Reef. The whales approached the group and hung around for a bit, then one returned for a second hello. Dwarf minkes travel through Great Barrier Reef waters every winter but aren't often seen at reefs this close to Cairns. : Passions of Paradise Great Barrier Reef Day Tour - Cairns Australia

21.01.2022 Did you know... Almost half of all fruit and vegetables produced globally are wasted. To put that in perspective, thats 3.7 trillion apples! Rather than bro...oding on the negative, we think that we should all collectively focus on the positive, that theres an immense and exciting opportunity for change and goodness! We can all take baby steps to #FightFoodWaste together as a city. Simply by eating what you buy and buying imperfect produce when you see it in stores and at markets, you'll be making a difference, and having some fun with it along the way! #OzHarvest #OzHarvestCairns #NourishingOurCountry #FoodRescue #FoodRelief

08.01.2022 Brilliant story - people adapting for the benefit of the community

08.01.2022 Last week, OzHarvest Cairns celebrated an incredible milestone in our food rescue operations, delivering our one millionth meal! Food Rescue Driver Laurent ...rescued the one millionth meal, in the form of delicious veggies and fruit, from Woolworths Redlynch and delivered all this goodness to IJC The MaraWay Community Hub, where Cairns mum Trudy was accessing food relief. We are so grateful to our amazing Cairns extended family, past and present, for the endless love and support that has helped us reach this milestone. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing our appreciation for some of the local champions who power what we do, stopping good food from going to waste and getting it out to people in need. #OzHarvestCairns #CairnsOneMillionMeals #FightFoodWaste #HereForHope #FeedTheForgotten

05.01.2022 Crystalbrook Collection is thrilled their plans to expand Crystalbrook Lodge have been approved. Thank you Mareeba Shire Council. Crystalbrook Lodge is located ...at the heart of Crystalbrook Station and therefore plays a vital role in our brand journey. Crystalbrook Station is where our brand started, it is the home of our signature Crystalbrook Beef and it is where our appreciation for nature, the environment and Responsible Luxury stems from. The expansion will include one, two and three-bedroom eco-villas and expansive recreation facilities designed to provide a true Outback experience connected to nature and the local environment. There is no confirmed timing for the development at present, which will be dependent on economic, tourism and aviation stability and growth. See more

03.01.2022 Big shout out to our friends at Tropic Spirit Catering who produced 3,200 delicious, nutritious, ready to eat meals in June and July to support the charities we... nourish across Cairns and beyond! Many charities have had to change their formats in response to COVID-19, including stopping sit-down community meal programs. This has created a need for balanced, cooked meals for people experiencing food insecurity who may not have the skills or infrastructure to cook for themselves and their families. Thank you to Nicole, Joel and Manny at Tropic Spirit who put so much love and goodness into these pre-prepared meals! #HospoHeroes #OzHarvestCairns #CairnsOneMillionMeals #HereForHope #FeedTheForgotten

03.01.2022 A couple of Mareeba kids are walking the neighbourhood handing out toilet paper to elderly residents at pensioner cottages. Our team at Tropic Now says thank... you for brightening up the place during tough (and strange) times. Their mum Petrina said the kids bought the rolls with their own pocket money. This photo has been shared nearly 2000 times since Petrina posted it with people praising the unselfish kids as the nation continues to panic buy toilet paper - despite authorities, supermarket chains and toilet paper manufacturers saying it is completely unnecessary to do so.
