20.01.2022 Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas Who else hasnt started their shopping yet?

19.01.2022 We are always promoting inclusion, children not feeling isolated.. and we had to stop for a minute and think about all the beautiful boys and girls at the The R...oyal Childrens Hospital, Melbourne. When we got a call out from the programme manager at HeartKids-VIC to donate items to the Koala Ward at the hospital for Fathers Day we jumped at the chance to do our bit for the kids. We didnt think that these little people wouldnt be able to step out and make or buy a gift for the special people in their life so we were thrilled to bring the gifs to them. Then we met 15 month old Lillian. One of the captains in the Starlight Childrens Foundation Australia room sent us to go and visit her. Lillian was a small baby who had issues breathing from birth, up until surgery she had laryngomalacia. She also had adenoids that left no room for breathing through her nose. Lillian also suffered from a weak immune system because of issues producing antibodies. Lillian was unwell more than she was well, but she was always happy. Lillian had urgent surgery last week to fix her airways. At an appointment 5 days earlier her airways appeared swollen and hypersensitive. Her issues were much worse than the mild laryngomalacia she had when she was a baby. The surgery went extremely well, and Lillian was set to go home the next day. Lillian had respiratory distress through the night and ended up in ICU the next day. She was fighting influenza A and parainfluenza. A 24-48 hour stay turned into 6 days total, with a few days spent in ICU. Lillian worked hard to breathe. She was extremely stubborn and did not tolerate some treatment, but she continued to fight until she was on top of things. Lillian was isolated from her big family, as they werent able to visit. Lillians mum was fighting both flus whilst looking after Lillian. Lillian was unable to do much at the hospital because she was isolated to prevent spreading the flu. So when we arrived to surprise her with a little gift to make daddy she couldnt wipe the smile off her face (we were smiling so much more!) So to the kids that are in hospital and excluded from the world for a time that youre in there, this is for you. You are always in our thoughts. Rest well little Lily.

14.01.2022 Nawwwwww When you refuse payment for a great cause so you get flowers instead. https://www.pws.org.au... Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a lifelong condition. A great deal of research is being done, but to date there is no cure. No reason is known for the genetic accident that causes this condition. PWS is a rare and very complex, non-inherited genetic disorder. Several genes on chromosome 15 are deleted or unexpressed. The commonly observed characteristics include small hands and feet, abnormal growth and body composition (small stature, very low lean body mass and early onset childhood obesity), weak muscles, insatiable hunger, extreme obesity, intellectual disability and anxiety-driven behavioural outbursts. There is an underlying hormone deficiency. A definitive diagnosis is now available using genetic testing. PWS was first described by Swiss doctors Andrea Prader, Alexis Labhart and Heinrich Willi in 1956 based on the clinical characteristics of children they observed.
