25.01.2022 Were back with 14 days of birthdays! Happy bday to all Public education in Western Australia

23.01.2022 From Monday 18 May, all Western Australian school students will be required to return to school. There are exceptions for students who are medically vulnerable or those who have a family member with chronic health issues.

23.01.2022 As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting social and emotional learning, the College have been focusing on fostering an attitude of gratitude as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this term we asked students and staff to express what they are grateful for. In total we captured approximately 150 student videos, 50 staff videos, and 480 written notes. Our 'gratitude wall' art installation in the Galileo Foyer is quite the show stopper. 21.01.2022 Encourage action. Ask questions like: 'What have you done in the past to manage similar situations?' 'How would you like me to support you?' 'What's something you can do for yourself right now? Something that's fun, relaxing or enjoyable?'... Maybe seeking advice from a health professional is required. See more

19.01.2022 A small group of our Year 8 students decided to present their solar passive house model by using the video game Minecraft! These students combined their science knowledge and technology skills in a cross-curricular sense, to showcase their assignement. As a 'Minecraft: Education' lead school it's about more than just playing video games! This is a small snapshot of the virtual tour presented.

18.01.2022 Mr Naidu demonstrates how to make nylon to our Yr 12 Chemistry students. With equal parts of Sebacoyl Chloride and 1,6-Hexanediamine Solutions the polymer starts to form at the interface between the liquids. As you can see Mr Naidu swirls the solution so the polymer wraps around the utensil, just like making Candy Floss! #PublicEducationWA #scienceweek

17.01.2022 Today our Yr 12 ATAR Earth and Environmental Science students conducted an experiment on the ocean's circulation. A blue ice block was placed in a trough of water to simulate the current of cold water from the poles to when it meets land and bringing with it nutrients for sea life.

15.01.2022 Wishing all of our teachers a Happy Teacher's Day today. We thank you for the amazing work you do and your commitment to our College and our students.

15.01.2022 For the Science Outreach Program this week we have Excelsior Primary School conducting the elephant's toothpaste experiment, in a specialist Chemistry class. Using Hydrogen Peroxide, food colouring and dishwashing liquid and then adding some dry yeast to warm water, before adding them all together, the yeast acts as a catalyst to remove the oxygen from the hydrogen peroxide. It does this very quickly which is why there are lots of bubbles.

15.01.2022 This Thursday is R U Ok? Day. This year, more than ever, we need to check in to make sure we are all ok. A conversation could change a life.

15.01.2022 Last week our Yr 10's played basketball in the local Zone Carnival against other schools. Sam Hunt captained our boys A team to finish 2nd in their pool, with our B team also finishing 2nd in their pool. A special mention goes to Laytonmarc Powell for sinking the winning shot in a very close game! Our girls were also very competitive and put up a great fight for seven consecutive games in what was a tough competition. They all played well and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

15.01.2022 Best of luck to Katie (Year 11) who will take the court this Friday at the Gold Netball Centre for the Southside Demons 20U team in the Western Australian Netball League.

14.01.2022 Expressing what we are grateful for is a powerful way of working on our optimism. Our Student Support team will be interviewing staff and students this week and asking them what they are grateful for. Stay tuned for the video...

13.01.2022 Ask R U OK? Got a feeling that someone you know or care about isnt behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes youve noticed, you could help them to open up.

13.01.2022 Tomorrow marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, which runs 27 May to 3 June each year. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the Reconciliation journey - the 1967 Referendum, and the High Court decision in Mabo. The week is also preceded by National Sorry Day which is today (Tuesday, 26 May). Reconciliation Week is a time for us to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconci...liation in our workplaces, schools and communities. Significantly, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Bridge Walk for Reconciliation, when people came together to walk across the nation to show support for a more reconciled Australia. This years theme, In This Together, is now resonating in ways which could not have been foreseen when it was announced last year. It reminds us whether we are in crisis or in reconciliation, we are all in this together.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Yr 12 ATAR Visual Arts student Juan Diego Arellano Rivas, after his work "Fistful of Dollars, Duck You Sucker!, Navajo Joe" took out the top place at the 2020 META exhibition through Central Galleries in Perth. META has become an important marker in the Visual Arts schedule across Western Australia for Showcasing innovative and exciting creative works completed by Yr 11 and 12 students enrolled in Visual Art and Design courses. META complements North Metr...o TAFEs prestigious art and design programs and acknowledges the excellence and originality of budding artist/designers in senior secondary schools across Western Australia. Of the 87 selected entries from the statewide call-out, Juan's work was described as, "A sophisticated reference to global politics through the use of pop-cultureboth film and comic. An excellent display of skills and competence with digital illustration, Juan demonstrates a great understanding of line and colour. Juans statement was also very articulate and the energy and perspective of the work caught the eye of lecturing staff across several disciplines. Compelling and accomplished." 01.01.2022 Listen without judgement. Start a conversation. Take what they say seriously and don't interrupt or rush the conversation. Don't judge their experiences or reactions and sit patiently with silence if they need some time to think. Remember a conversation could change a life.
