22.01.2022 BPPV Vertigo is a type of dizziness. It can be triggered with a certain head movement or change in position. The most common cause of vertigo is called benign positional paroxysmal vertigo or BPPV. BPPV happens when tiny particles (crystals) in the balance centre of the inner ear are disturbed, usually by sudden movement. This causes the spinning sensation. ... The symptoms of BPPV include Dizziness or spinning sensation, Feeling light-headed, Balance problems and Nausea (feeling like you are going to vomit). If your symptoms dont settle on their own, you may benefit from specific Physiotherapy treatment, in particular the Epley manoeuvre, which aims to put the particles back into an optimal position. If you or somebody you know is suffering from any of these symptoms, book an assessment today for a diagnosis and treatment plan.

If these issues are detected early, a targeted rehab program can be implemented to reduce the risk of significant injury. Sports specific screening is certainly the way to go. Physiotherapy forms an important management component. Strategies may include: a physical activity or exercise program that safely loads the bones to help keep them strong exercises to optimise your posture or address postural changes balance training to minimise your risk of falls education about bone health and self-management strategies assisting in rehabilitation after a fracture is sustained.
