Some students for their first ever full contact tournament. We are looking forward to seeing members of Kyokushin Karate family from clubs Australia wide, meeting up with some long time friends and making some new friends as well. 14.01.2022 On behalf of the Whitsunday Cannonvale Dojo I would like to say thanks to all those involved with making the "2018 All Australian Kyokushin Junior & Colts Karate Championships" last Saturday 26th May such a huge success. Congratulations to all competitors you all demonstrated outstanding fighting spirit and comradery. Whether you placed or not you are all ahead by having the opportunity to compete and gain valuable tournament experience. Officials who have travelled to refer...ee this event, all guided by the experience and advice from Shihan Zac Hayes. The Marshals and table staff kept all organised ensuring the day ran smoothly, with an amazing 100 junior competitors entering the tournament this year aged between 5 - 17 years. Keeping all fuelled were our hardworking catering volunteers both on the BBQ and in the canteen areas. Dr Martin Carr again in charge of our tournament medical and attached are a couple of his action photography snaps. All family and friends who attended and showed their support throughout the day. All instructors and club parents who attended, travelling with your students/children, many of you travelling from afar. All volunteers involved with the preparation and printing of the programs, posters and tournament shirts etc, great job. Sensei Jason Crimmin, Senjo Brisbane for your weapon and tameshiwari demonstration, enjoyed by all who attended. Shihan Trevor Field, Senjo Honbu Dojo Mackay for overseeing this event and advising throughout the day. 12.01.2022 October 19, 2019 will be a day to mark down in history for the Cannonvale Dojo. Four Cannonvale students successfully completed their Shodan grading and we are so very proud!!! Congratulations to Sempais Jack Wilson, Monique Woodham, Sebastian Heatley, and Ryan Stephens each training for 12 yrs in Kyokushin Karate from the age of 6 yrs. ... Your dedication and perseverance is admirable. This grading marks the chapter of a new beginning in the Kyokushin path for you all. Working along side of the Sempais and grading for their senior grade levels were Dallas Woodham grading for 1st Kyu and Jonathan Heatley grading for 2nd Kyu. (Pics below are from last nights grading presentations and some old photos of the above senior grades from earlier gradings.) We would also like to congratulate fellow students Liam Tomas and Velvet Heatley who graded to 3rd Kyu, Nate Harrison 4th Kyu, Aiden Payet 5th Kyu, Kade Harrison 6th Kyu, Liadan Walsh and Aidan Vicary 9th Kyu and Lachlan Walters 10th Kyu, All students grading gave 100% in effort throughout the grading exam. Cannonvale results: Jack Wilson 2nd Male Colts 16-17yr Elite Contact Division ... Jay Wilson 1st Male Heavyweight Classic Contact Division. This was Jays first competition after years of attending tournaments supporting his boys and he has been training with his boys Jack and Sam in the lead up to this event. Sam Wilson fought extremely well and put in a tremendous effort though not placing in this tournament. Congratulations to Shihan Wayne, Duane, Joel, Imogen, Penny and Jaxon, well done.
