24.01.2022 We would firstly like to thank all those who had entered our backyard camping competition. You certainly all made it extremely hard to chose a winner. Such amazing camping setups. So after much deliberation and struggle choosing a winner, we finally made a decision. We would like to congratulate Erin Warne on winning our backyard camping competition. Congratulations

22.01.2022 We would like to share photos from past ANZAC Day services at Greenhill Beach from 2009 onwards. It is a wonderful service commenced and facilitated by Richard Crabb and his friends from early 2000s and now with the help of the Isaac Regional Council, sadly unable to go ahead this year due to Covid-19. #Lestweforget

22.01.2022 Well said Dan! We also wish to thank Rainee from Mackay Tourism and Glenys from Isaac Regional Council for bringing us this opportunity, the Weatherman Extraordinaire Tim, Lesa who directed so well and the crew behind the cameras from The Today Show. Thank you also to Viv and Jane, Councillors from Isaac Regional Council, for your support. The whole event went together so well with everyone giving their support and organisational skills and doing it so happily. It was such ...a fun event which everyone, including our lovely caravanners, enthusiastically participated in and enjoyed with one highlight being the crabs cooked by Nik and Mark and the prawns by Glenys. So interesting to be a part of the making of the show and to see how it is done. We were all fascinated. Thank you to the Today Show for showcasing our Park and our wonderful Isaac and Mackay Region. 19.01.2022 Queenslanders have done a great job at slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and flattening the curve. Because of this, we can now slowly start to lift r...estrictions here in the sunshine state. Today, the Queensland Government has released a roadmap which outlines a phased approach to how and when this will happen. The impact of these changes will be assessed every four weeks at each checkpoint. If everyone continues to follow the restrictions and we keep seeing less cases, further restrictions will be lifted. However, if there is a significant increase in cases, restrictions may be reversed. It will be up to each and every one of us to continue practicing good hygiene, social distancing and common sense. Together we will get through this. To learn more about Queenslands roadmap forward visit: https://qld.health/Roadmap

16.01.2022 We had a quick surprise visit from Jason and Simon with the crew from #All4Adventure as they needed to drop their vehicles at a safe place while they took the boat out for a spot of overnight fishing. Back the next day and gave the trailer and boat a wash. A pretty good effort getting that size boat in at Greenhill boat launch. You will have to wait for the episode.

16.01.2022 Queensland Government announced on Friday that they have a Roadmap to Easing Restrictions which will mean if all goes well we should be able to accept local holidaymakers (250km radius) from 12 June which is Stage 2 and if all goes well without a big increase in COVID-19 cases we expect the State to open further in Stage 3 and hopefully the borders will also open shortly afterwards. It is exciting to see that Queensland is down to 20 active cases today.

06.01.2022 Well, we are all very excited that we are now open for Queenslanders and, hopefully in the not too distant future, it will be the rest of Australia. It is very important that all of us together follow good hygiene and social distancing so that we do not get closed up again. Looking forward to hearing from you when you are ready to start caravanning and camping again.

05.01.2022 Some lovely shots from the AWOL Family when they stayed in July.

05.01.2022 This envelope was sent to us by Bill and Gwenda, regular visitors to the Park, because they thought we would like the caravan on the front but the most interesting part is the town of Blair Athol Q. We had to think where it was and after looking on Google found that it no longer existed and, where it was, is now the Blair Athol coal mine in the Isaac Region. Coal had been found there around 1864 and the town developed due to the mining of the coal but once the mine went ope...n cut, there was too much valuable coal under the town and eventually it had to go. After a reunion in 1981, the last buildings were removed. As it is only 24 kilometres from the town of Clermont, some of the Blair Athol residents moved there. Only the cemetery remains of this little town that once had over 800 people in its heyday. The Clermont Museum has more information and memorabilia if you are in town. Thanks Bill and Gwenda, for this little bit of history. #isaacregion #coalmines #memorabilia See more

04.01.2022 We were thrilled to be told last week that we had been nominated as a Local Champion at The 2020 Mackay Region Celebration Awards by Glenys Mansfield from Isaac Regional Council. The nomination was: Cape Palmerston Caravan Park Nominated by Glenys Mansfield The team at Cape Palmerston Holiday Park local champions on the Isaac Coast for the Mackay Region and Tourism. This year they have hosted, AWOL Family, Mark Fitz and have assisted to create great media value for our regi...on during weather crosses on Channel 9 today Show to promote our region after the impact of Covid 19 on the tourism Industry. The family had very short notice to host these media and photographic shots and ensured everyone was looked after. They went out of their way and over and above what was expected of them during these hosting events. We couldn't have done it without the support of Glenys and also the crew from Mackay Tourism. Thank you! #isaacregion #mackayregion #mackaytourism #capepalmerstonholidaypark

03.01.2022 Australia Caravan & Campsite Review - Cape Palmerston Holiday Park The park is set up on a 62 acre rural property with kangaroos and wallabies that greet you ...on arrival. There is a number of drive through powered sites on the side of the hill and a big open area for unpowered sites. The sites are large, well maintained and clean as they do a great job of mowing and landscaping the park. There is an amenities block with a number of toilets and showers available. They have a laundry room with new washing machines and dryers, and everything is well kept and clean. Alongside the amenities you have a spacious camp kitchen and a communal fire pit that you are welcome to use. At reception you have access to a small shop that sells your basic supplies, ice and bait. The park has its own access to the river where you can launch your boat on high tide and fish along the banks. It is within a few minutes drive of the Cape Palmerston National Park and a great place to 4WD along the beach and check out some fishing spots or just look at the magnificent scenery. Overall a lovely place to stay See more

03.01.2022 Here are some photos of the light-blue Soldier Crab, Mictyris longicarpus, that are so busy on the beach when the tide starts to go out. They have to roll all the sand that has fallen into their holes back up onto the beach again. Then the next tide comes up and they have to start all over again.
