25.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

24.01.2022 We had so much fun for Melbourne Cup, we all got to be a jockey for a photo with the help of our homemade props. We had a lovely lunch, a few drinks and after the race we had lots of sweep winners.

21.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

14.01.2022 Friday afternoon cooking - a small group of residents decided they wanted to make delicious Rocky Road, the concentration levels where high and the end result was enjoyed once it was set.

13.01.2022 Our beautiful resident Nita celebrated her 98th birthday this month, she received so many beautiful flowers, cards and phone calls from her loved ones that absolutely made her day.

12.01.2022 Today, Saturday March 20 is the International Day of Happiness. In a world where we are all facing difficult times, we all deserve some happiness, fun and laughter in our day. Here is our contribution to help bring some laughter to your your day. Residents at our Charlesbrook home in Templestowe got into the spirit of the day and joined in with staff to tell a few 'Knock knock' jokes.... 06.01.2022 Yipeeee, bus trips are back and we are so happy! Getting out and about is so lovely, a perfect day at the Wynnum Manly waterfront, the gorgeous scenery, we couldn't have asked for anything better.

04.01.2022 Every year since McKenzie’s first home opened in 2000, Mary-Ann McKenzie along with family members and friends help decorate most of our McKenzie Christmas trees. This years festive season looks a little different around our homes. Due to travel restrictions, Mary-Ann and daughter, Casey could only continue on the tradition for our 6 Victorian homes. Our Queensland and New South Wales homes would not miss out completely though. They were given the ‘secret manual’ on how to de...corate their trees the McKenzie way, which as you can see from the photos below, is pretty amazing. Mary-Ann says "Christmas time is my favourite time of the year, and I really enjoy being able to spread the Christmas cheer in our homes". We hope to see the ‘McKenzie Elves’ back in our homes next year, continuing on this special family tradition.

04.01.2022 Photos from around CapellaBay today - we have enjoyed music therapy with the help of our wonderful pink Ipad, pet therapy with our very lovable, easy to look after puppie and of course nothing soothes the soul like a lovely walk out in the garden.
