22.01.2022 This is the wonderful painting of capers, by our daughter Brigid. So good we put it on the inside cover of the caper book.

22.01.2022 There is story about growing caper on Salina Island off Sicily on the SBS program Alex Polizzi's Secret Italy Season 1 Episode 2 Nearly as good as the video we put up by John Blount last year .https://vimeo.com/7369782

21.01.2022 The winter has finally arrived in most part around here, so time to cut back the caper plants. Capers (the flower buds) grow better on new growth, in the same way as grape vines. Dispose of the cutting, not good to use as mulch.

18.01.2022 While the coronavirus lockdown is still continuing, it's a great time for reading. So we are offering the Caper Book at a special discount 'virus' price. go to www.caperplants.com/shop/

17.01.2022 Another of the great caper recipes to be seen on Gardening Australia June 7th.Caper, Sultana and Lemon Pesto Ingredients: 30-40 grams Capers Zest of 1 lemon... Juice from the same lemon 25 grams Italian or flat leafed Parsley 2 tablespoons sultanas (or raisins) 1 tablespoon shallots chopped tablespoons extra virgin cold pressed olive oil 1 tablespoon water teaspoon black pepper freshly ground Salt to taste Directions: Add all the ingredients, except the oil, in a food processor, or Thermomix, and blend. Reduce the speed of the machine to slow and add oil slowly, as you do when making mayonnaise, till there is a smooth consistency, adding salt to taste.

17.01.2022 As our caper plants here in Australia pack up (losing their leaves etc) for the winter, in the Mediterranean region it's all go go for caper growing. Here is a large caper bush on Malta, a caper bush on the wall of the Bastille in Cagliare, capers growing on the wonderful Island of Salina and a caper farm in Spain. The lucky travellers. But spring will be here soon

14.01.2022 Our 'Eureka' caper plant variety is now growing in India on a Caper Farm in Tamil Nadu. The climate is dry and very hot for about 8-10 months of the year. The 'Eureka' is growing well, and the photos are only 12 months after planting.

14.01.2022 Found this great photo of a caper bush in the school garden, probably late summer this year. The caper plants have started to shoot after the winter and should be ready in late October for delivery.

11.01.2022 CAPERS will be seen on the ABC's Gardening Australia program on Friday 7th June (7.30pm), and repeated on Sunday 9th June (about 1.30pm). Capers will feature Brian Noone and Caperplants, grower of the 'Eureka' caper plant, and propagator from South Australia.

10.01.2022 The first 'Eureka' caper plants grown in tissue culture, have been planted on a caper farm in Tamil Nadu. This is the final trial of transferring plants from laboratory into the ground. Then we can begin large scale 'Eureka' caper plant propagation.

07.01.2022 We have a 25% discount on Smashwords for the eBook version of the caper book, for a couple of days.Go to https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/880012

03.01.2022 Capers - a Mediterranean delight! Know how grow and prepare capers for the table!

02.01.2022 Here is a wonderful photograph of capers growing on old terraced hillside on the Island of Pantelleria. The photo was taken by Rosario Cappadona who is the Director of the Cooperativa Agricola Produttori Capperi a cooperative of over 400 caper farmers.

01.01.2022 At the recent filming of the caper story for the Gardening Australia, Julia prepared some wonderful recipes using caper and caperberries. Here is the CAPERBERRY HUMMUS recipe..... Ingredients: 400 grams tin of organic Chickpeas, drained... 3 tablespoons of organic Tahini 8 medium (10 small) caperberries with stems removed 1 clove of garlic Juice of 2 lemons Sea salt Extra virgin olive oil 3 whole medium sized caperberries. Directions: Blend the chickpeas and garlic in a food processor or Thermomix until smooth. Add the tahini, caperberries, lemon juice, and salt to taste. Blend to smooth consistency. Place in a serving bowl and sprinkle olive oil over and garnish with the whole caperberries.

01.01.2022 This spring has been incredibly cold, both day and night. So the caper plants are very slow to grow this year. But some are flowering already and so the bees are about. No wonder our honey tastes so good.
