19.01.2022 Celebrating 20 years of Cape York Peninsula Lodge. 20 years ago the old Bamaga hospital was demolished and Bamaga Island Council spent more than $1 million converting it into the Resort Bamaga - later renamed as 'Cape York Peninsula Lodge'. Today, under the management of Bamaga Enterprises Ltd, The Lodge has seen further redevelopment and services 44 accommodation rooms, employing up to 15 local staff members.... To celebrate 20 years, we welcomed community Elders and locals for a special commemorative dinner and traditional dance performance. Reg Williams, who originally opened the property, dedicated a new plaque at the special occasion. Isn't it great to see how far The Lodge has come? Do you have any special memories of this location?
