16.01.2022 As many of us are wearing masks regularly in public, we’re seeing an increasing number of patients with mask-related breakouts and skin issues. Here are a few tips for anyone wearing a mask to keep their skin healthy: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning and evening... Use sunscreen and moisturiser regularly, or choose a moisturising sunscreen that can act as both Avoid fragrances, creams that leave a greasy residue, and products like toners that dry out the skin Keep your skincare regime simple and avoid products that irritate the skin Use a hand sanitizer before applying your mask If your mask is rubbing, be sure that it’s not too tight. Try applying moisturizer for 30 minutes before to reduce friction, or choose a silicone-based barrier cream If possible, give your skin a 5-minute break every few hours Learn how to remove your mask properly (your local Capital Chemist pharmacist can demonstrate) If you’re wearing a cloth mask, be sure to wash it daily Read more at https://buff.ly/3nYd6OB If you’re experiencing skin issues, speak to your local Capital Chemist pharmacist. 11.01.2022 Sharing a meal and some drinks with friends or family is a joyful experience for many of us unless it results in painful heartburn Heartburn- aka gastroesophageal reflux or indigestion - affects 70% of all Australians at some stage during their life. It’s usually experienced: after a large or rich meal after eating and drinking a lot... if you’re feeling anxious, or when you are pregnant. Food is often (but not always) a trigger, so it’s important to recognise that large meals, fatty foods, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, cola drinks and peppermint have all been associated with the onset of reflux. Some medications can aggravate or worsen reflux or indigestion. If you’re someone who regularly experiences heartburn or indigestion, your Capital Chemist can help you with tips on how to prevent it, as well as treatments for when it strikes.
